Hi all,
Well today I had an appt. with my OB/GYN because I thought I had a nasty Y.I. that wouldn't go away, but it turned out to be just V.V. prolly. Anyway, during my pelvic exam she goes, "Oh my gosh!" and I go "what??!" and she goes "You cervix is tipped!"
I said "is that bad??" and she goes, "No...just a little abnormal is all."
My question is, anyone else have this?? And so, can someone please EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THIS IS???
I want to have kids so badly...I am worried that this might affect me.
PLEASE :help: !!!!!!!

Jess,
Mine is also tipped. I t has been as long as I can remember I have 2 boys .. My gyn just said its in opposite direction or backwards. As far as I know I have been told it causes no harm..I was alarmed when I was a teenager and gyn told me this but as far I know it never has caused problems for me . My gyn says lots more women have this and its different but not bad. If you are concerned I would ask your gyn to explain it but hope this helps.

Jess,
Same here, tipped uterus actually discovered upon pregnancy...that one must have been a doozy, cuse its straight now-my cureent GYN explained its quite common and was never an issue. I wish Drs would elaborate before sending patients home in tears and fear. If there was a problem fo the future it was her job to explain that as well....please don't panic...it may cause your cramps to be worse, but that's just about all. Two kids later.........:)

Thanks Kelly and Bets,
I panicked. I am sick of hearing "this is abnromal" and "that is abnormal"...agh! I have too many problems with this 100-yr.old bod than I care to think about LOL...
Glad it's not just me though. I've had dozens of pelvic exams, and this is the first time I was told that my cervix was tipped.

sometimes the cervical position can change. don't really know why. when i had my last artificial insemination, they said my cervix was smushed up to right side for some reason. during the previous ones, it had never done that. since then, i don't think it's ever been like that. i guess it just happens sometimes.
as long as it's normal-looking and paps come back fine, i wouldn't worry too much.
(((hugs)))

Thanks, Holly! My mom had the same thing before she got pregnant, and it straightened out during pregnancy. So strange!

During a prenatal ultrasound, the technician said I have a retroverted (tilted) uterus. Apparently this is found in 1 in 5 women and is certainly not abnormal. It just means the top of the uterus is tilted toward the back instead of the front. Three-quarters of the way through my first trimester, my uterus had already righted itself.
Not sure if it will go back to being retroverted - I'll let you know in 5 months! :)

As others have said do not worry. Not only was mine tipped, it was also almost upside down! I had no trouble getting pregnant, being pregnant or giving birth. Judith

i'm sorry, did i misread the post? i thought jess was talking about her cervix being tipped. not her uterus. the cervical position can change. if the uterus is tipped, it will probably remain so.
guess i got confused. sorry.

Thanks, Judith! :)
Holly,
You were right--my cervix is tipped...but I am confused as to if it is the same thing as a uterus being tipped, since the cervix is the neck of the uterus. Anyway, it's definitely my cervix that is tipped. I tried looking it up online (tipped cervix) but came up with nada, except a website for people were TTC, and had difficulties.

i don't know if it means your uterus is tipped too. my uterus isn't tipped, but my cervix was in a weird place during that last procedure in may.
isn't it fun being a woman? not. lol

Hmm, it seems to me that your uterus would have to be tipped as well sine as you pointed out it is the bottom of that organ. Or my other is that it depends on which way the cervix is curved. The gross thing that happened to my cervix is that as I grew older my cervix elongated and the end grew out of my vagina! My gyn joked and told me I was growing a penis, lol. I ended up gettting a hysterectomy, which was fine with me. I am 48 have two grown sons and was already starting menopause. What happened to me is not very common, than goodness! Hope you have easy time getting preggers when the time comes. I got pregnant first shot with each baby! My husband was dissappointed it was so easy. Judith

LOL Judith, that's funny about hubby being disappointed. I must say, that growth must have hurt! My gyn and I already discussed that as soon as I am done having my family, all the plumbing is coming out. I have no need for it, as I have very heavy and strong periods, and grow ovarian cysts. Agh!
