Hi everyone,

Completely off topic. But did anyone ever have a fistula? from childbirth. I have three close friends that have had them after they had their children. I read up on them and everything I could find says they usually happen in third world countries where obstretic care is poor...go figure, I guess that says alot about the care where I am eh? Anyway all i can figure out is that from the baby pressing on the tissue of the vagina for too long, blood stops flowing through the tissue and it dies. When it dies it causes a hole either between the anus and the vagina or the bladder and the vagina. My poor neighbor had one after 63 hours of labour.... Her baby broke its collar bone because he was so big.....WHY oh WHY not a cesarian????? I mean come on if the baby has to break his bone to get out after 63 hours wouldn't you think they would have given her a cesearan earliar? It scares me silly to have a baby here. There currently no surgery where I am so if you do need it in labour they send you in a abulance a hour away....ugh. Scary to me. I had my baby in a bigger center two years ago and it was fine...very competent. I just feel so bad for my friends. One of them has had bladder problems ever since, her surgeon said she may not be able to have sex again. The other has had to have surgery on her bowel due to incontinence. And my neighbor has had problems every since. These are young women in their 20s.
Anyway, wondering if this is something that others have encountered. I feel so bad for them. My IC seems so little when it comes to those problems. Anyway sometimes it sucks being a girl.

Wow now that is scarey......I feel terrible for them too. I can't believe your friend suffered so long in pregnancy.
I hope if/when you have another child, you can get to the care center you had your last child.

I hope with their pain from this fistula, they can receive some kind of pain management?
