I am at a loss for ideas. I am very very depressed, yet I am on two different SSRI"S. There has been alot going on in my life, most of it hurtful, so I guess that could be the reason. I have been trying really hard to be positive and upbeat, specially around the kids. When they are not around,I sit and cry for hours. To be honest, I may postpone my knee surgery, just cuz I feel like I am not emotionally ready to go through it again. I am sorry to be such a downer, but I thank God that I have you to "talk to", and know that you understand.A million thanks to you all! :grouphug: Sheri G

(((HUGS))) I feel that way too much of the time. I think it's natural to be depressed when you are in pain most of the time and you don't know what the future holds or if it will get any better. Plus other issues on top of that don't make it any easier.
What you are going through is extremely hard. It's pretty normal to feel depressed.
It's good that you are trying antidepressants, maybe you just need to find the right combo?
I wish I could take antidepressants - I need them so badly but they kill my bladder, all of them, so I have to do without them and believe me I'm so horribly depressed no one can stand to be around me. That's why I disappear from the boards so much, too, I'm just too depressed most of the time to muster any positive words.
Blessings, Lori
Hope you are feeling better soon! :kissing:

Depression is such a difficlt thing to figure out...I think it still conjures up a feeling that we aren't okay. We are okay, but we have depression and for a million different reasons. Sheri, I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I hope you have spoken to your Dr., the combo may not be right for you. I take lexapro which helps me deal with depression...actually I started when I was in constant pain and overwhelmed. I now feel so much better in terms of IC, but have stayed on it just in case. I think when depression is as profound as yours feels, it is really important to discuss your medications and effects ASAP and also, talking with a professional in combination may help. Talking to all of us here can help as well. I do think you should call the Dr and see if an adjustment is needed. I am sorry about the surgery, I know it was rough for you the last time. Keep your spirit high and do something nice for you today. :)

Hi Sheri,
I hope you'll feel better soon. It's so tricky trying to treat depression and anxiety. I can't handle SSRIs so I have to just try to deal with it as best I can on my own. Do you see a therapist?
Here's lots of hugs that things will get better soon.

Sheri,
You know that you will always have us to talk to! One thing that helped me during my worst depression was seeing a therapist. He was neutral and just listened, let me get it all out, and helped me to sort out all my mental issues. I feel, mentally, much better since seeing him. I thought my friends or my husband or family could just help me sort it out, because for the most part, they are understanding. But when it came down to it, they really didn't know how to help me, though they tried, and actually made matters a little worse!
If you want to bend my ear, drop me a line--I love you!
Love,
Jess

Thanks so much to all of you for your kind words and suggestions. Yes, I do see a therapist, and she is wonderful. It would be better tho if some of my adult family members came as wel....but they wont.
Jess, just may take you up on your offer one of these days! Love to you all! Sheri

Sheri...I too suffer from depression. My heart goes out to you. Sending you a cyber hug. Sometimes it takes up to 6 wks. for depression meds to get into your system at a level that you will start to notice is helping you. Some meds help certain people more than others. For instance, I am on Effexor XR, which is great for me. The dr. tried me on Wellbutrin XL and it was horrible for me, made me more depressed and I cried day and night. Hang in there, know that I care and keep in touch w/ your doctor if the meds don't do the trick for you.
Hugs,
DIANE
