Hello!
I am going away in a few months to Arizona and I am wondering if it is okay to bring all of my med.'s with me. Some are over the counter available here in Canada that are not in the States (tylenol 1). And some are prescribed by my doc. I know I should know this already, but I don't! I am already afraid of customs officials (they can be scary, but I know they have to be!) and I don't want to be at the border with all these pills, stammering that I have IC and all this other stuff and they're like, "sure, PULL OVER!" . Can I bring them over or should I get a note from my doc? Thanks! :hmm:

:hi: Dragonfly! In response to your med question, I think what I would do, is have your doc or pharmacy make a copy for you of the original prescription for each meds. For meds that you can get in Canada, but not here, ask your doc to list what meds you have, and a statement that you are under his/her care, and that indeed, he/she did prescribe the drug. I know it may seem like overkill, but better than ending up in some jail on drug charges! :bonk:
Hope you have a wonderful trip...I went to Arizona once, a long time ago, and loved it out there (despite the food poisoning I got on the plane that made me vomit all day, every day, well into when we got home!!!) :toilet: I wish you all the best! Sheri G :grouphug:

Any time I have been out of the U.S I had no trouble at all with border security.
Most times a security inspector is looking for illegal substances. Your meds aren't illegal IF you have all of them in their correct container with your name and doctor's prescribing name.
By all means discuss with your doctor about a letter.....it's always better to be safe.........just in case.........and have a good time with your travels!

Assuming you are from Canada. My mother just looked into this herself as she is heading south too. She was told that as long as the medication was in it's original bottle you shouldn't have any problem. She keeps them in a weekly pill box and he said "no" to that because they wouldn't be able to identify what they where. Makes sense. I know last time I went south I was told the same thing. That being said, maybe a note from your doctor wouldn't hurt. You know borders and security these days.
Have a great vacation. I'm jealous ! :)

The only restrictions I know of would be liquid medications. My daughter-in-law had diarrhea when they went to Australia and they took away her Kaopectate when she returned to the US. Just be sure your medications are in their original containers. It probably won't come up, but if you'll feel more secure with the doctor's note, then I would do it.
Have a wonderful vacation!

It shouldn't be an issue, as far as I know.
Do you mind if I ask where in Arizona you'll be? I go to school in Tucson and love it here. It's beautiful in a desert way.

We are arriving at Tuscon Intl. Airport, but am not sure where we are going from there, I am going with my boyfriend who is there for baseball tryouts. I agree about the weather, it is -22 in Toronto tonight! (celsius). Thanks for the advice everyone!

Guess Tucson is the "in" place to be this winter! I'll be there, too, for the month of March. Anyone else?

Any one have any ideas on how to travel with IC on a 24 hour flight? Yes, we are flying to China. I am concerned about flying to China and having to "go" alot while on the plane.

I can drive to Tuscon, was looking to get away from this lovely military instillation I call home. Maybe we can throw an IC party. We belong to a timeshare company that has resorts near there that sleep up to 10 adults...could have the Pajama Party of our lives. The rooms also come with VCR and DVD players, so it will definitely be a chick flick night, no boys allowed.

Kim,
One thing I might suggest if you don't already have one, get a restroom access card from the ICN. Also if it would help ease your mind, get a letter, with their letterhead, from your uro's office stating you have IC and the limitations you have. And that you make frequent trips to the bathroom.
Bring your own bottled water. When you empty one out, hold on to it. It could come in handy to fill it up with hot water for a mini heating pad.
I hope your trip is a safe and hopefully stress-free one! Are you heading out to pick up a new little one? Take care! :grouphug:

Ugh!
My silly trip is off! But it is being replaced by a trip to Florida in May . . . let's hope this one works out!
An IC party would have been great fun! Instead I will be staying in Disney World (yes, I am a grown adult, but who can resist Mickey?)
I can't wait for this awful snow to be gone and days of warmth and sunshine past 6pm.!
I used to love snow and living here, but lately I have come out of that. I can't imagine going outside in January and not worrying about stupid salt stains on the hem of my pants!
I envy those of you living in a warm climate.
Kim, I don't know if you've left yet, but I went to Italy last year (China is obviously much further). I don't get serious urgency, so maybe it is different for me, but this is what I did;
I did not drink anything the day we left (our flight was at 9pm), took 2 Immodium (spelling, sorry) and 2 Gravols just before getting on the plane. I was knocked out for about 7 hours. But if your IC wakes you up I don't know what you can do. Even if you do have to go 100 times no-one will even notice, even though it is a pain for you to have to do that.
If you don't drink anything before and on the flight, make sure you load up when you get off, flying is a killer and dehydrates me very much.
What are you planning on seeing in China? I've heard wonderful things about it.
Happy travels!
ps. Word to the wise, skip the in-flight meal, especially on a long flight.

Anything Disney is the only place to be. I have always loved Disney and married into a Disney fanatic family. Lindsey has been there(including her first while I was pregnant--6 mo) 6 times to Disneyland and once to Disneyworld. I know what everyone is thinking, spoiled brat, right? Even though she is the only granchild and great grandchild on both sides, we have made her appreciate what she has(appropriate to age level) and consequences with those things for inappropriate behavior.

Best vacation my husband and I ever had was when just the two of us went to Disneyworld et al for 5 days....it was awesome!!!

I love Disney World and Disneyland. I really love Disneyland because it's so nostalgic. Sometimes "Acting like a kid" is way more fun than anything else, like going to the arcade or roller skating or something like that. I also enjoy Slinkys and Play-Doh and Ninja Turtles. Wheee!
Yay Mickey! And say hi to the Mad Hatter for me.

Hi!
Has anyone ever stayed in a Disney resort? We are still trying to decide on which one to stay in! I know Disney resorts are a little over priced, but you can't beat the atmosphere! :)
We were in Disneyworld during the hurricanes in August. Originally we were supposed to stay 2 weeks in a "villa" in Tampa . . . . . so we get to this house and really start looking around :shake: . . . and there are huge nasty bugs everywhere! Like the roach traps were 5 layers thick, they are in the toilet, shower, beds, ugh! and we RAN, I mean broke the door off the hinges RAN, with the luggage hanging from our necks!! (I am NOT a strong person and I had my boyfriends bag around my neck and I was pulling our friends and my suitcases. It took us about 5 trips to load all this stuff into the house and ONE TRIP to get it out!) After we got in the car we spent 10 minutes just staring at eachother with our jaws hanging open!(SICK!) (and the landlord tried to tell me they were not cockroaches and I was like "listen, buddy, we may be from up north but I've been to the reptile pavillion at the zoo and those were ROACHES!" :tsk: and he tried to make fun of me by saying "eh" about 1000 times and finally I said "look, you're not funny, but do you know what is? We left the lights and the water valve on!" Ha! :evilsmile )
:biglaugh:
Anyway, the point is we ended up spending 4 days in the Disney All Star Sports resort before we decided to leave (because of the hurricanes) and left for home at midnight the night of hurricane Charlie (it was a 22 hour drive! we live in Toronto!) The point is, even though our trip was cut from 14 days to 4, staying at the Disney resort made going there worthwhile! :woohoo:
For anyone who lives in Florida, I admire you and hope you and your family were safe through those hurricanes! Like I said, we live in Toronto and our mother nature claim to fame is snow storms! I can't imagine what it must be like to live through that! We were ready to battle it out and stay put but at 11:30pm when they started issuing tornado watches we were like "forget this and forget Mickey!, we're out of here!" :dizzy:
So, after the long story, any suggestions?
And any "must see" things? All we saw was Epcot, which was totally fab! Loved the diff. countries, could spend a week there!
Thanks!

My parents live about an hour from Disneyworld, and we belong to a timeshare company that has a resort in the area. Our next trip we are going to stay at one of the resorts because, like you said, there is nothing like a Disney Vacation. Our plan to to stay at the Boardwalk or Grand Floridian. We have stayed at the Grand California at Disneyland and it rocks.
Hugs,
