Me too!! It's a blizzard here...ugh...yay spring!

Remember, your Spring is someone elses Autumn.
Although I am sick to death of this heat! Hate, hate, hate it!

LOL Sorry Rosalie...you can send me some heat if you want, so that this snow melts! We got another 5 inches or so last night, and it's still snowing--and another storm is headed this way. It's so cold here that even Santa would move to Florida!

send your heat this way. I'm not happy unless 90 plus. My horses are not to happy to be stuck in the barn either so I'm sure they will take a little heat too.

Hey Jen and Jess. I suppose that I shouldn't whinge about the heat. Melbourne's weather is so changeable. They say (mostly people from Sydney - we have quite a bit of rivalry) that if you don't like the weather in Melbourne, just wait a few minutes and it will change!
However,it has been beaut the last few days but I know that with February comes the heat waves, Yuck! We can get days and days of over 100 just when the kids go back to school after the Christmas break.
I remember as a child, walking home from school with the pavement soft and sticking to my shoes because of the heat.
While I can appreciate you being fed up with it, I'd love to see snow like that. Wouldn't it be great to change places for a few days?

Rosalie, they say the same thing about Oregon! Yesterday was totally beautiful here --- it got up to 60! I'm eager for spring --- really getting tired of so many hours of darkness. I like summer when I wake up in the morning to sunshine.

Rosalie,

Ok you come to WI, and I'll go to Austrailia! We have accumulated at least a foot this week, and there is more to come. I must be :loco: living up here...I'd love to go out and make a snowman on our deck (God knows there's enough snow) but it's too cold out. -20 degree temperatures are just not my cup of caffeine free coffee!

Donna I'm with you...I miss sunshine in the morning...when the alarm goes off at 5:10 for hubby, it's pitch black outside...so depressing...

Does that make today 56? I used to live by a nursery that counted out the days until spring on their sign. :-) It was cool to drive by there and "see" spring coming.

Sure as heck doesn't feel like spring is even close today. To look outside the window, sun shinning, glistening on the fresh snow and you stick your head outside for a wiff of fresh air and bam...you nose falls off.

I think this calls for a quick visit to cheaptickets.com

Okay..I DETEST WINTER, I suffer from seasonal affective disorder, though its better now and being cold? THE WORST. However, I have learned to enjoy being home more, am quite nesty and love my fireplace-I think I am learning to be far more relaxed during the winter, though I hate going out....I agree with Donna though, more sunlight could easily make me quite happy. I am learning not to wish away time...i'ts too precious, so I have found reasons to "deal" with cabin fever and the chills. Brrrrrrrr.I am off to the beach next week to restore myself with ocean views. The best medicine. :)

ICNJess

Betsie,

What time are we leaving for the beach? :biglaugh:

I wish we had something that counts the days till spring....and I wish that number was on zero right! I don't really have cabin fever--I am a homebody--but I do like lounging on the deck on our swing, with a good book or my studies. The closest thing I can come to seeing a crisp blue sky and warm weather is on t.v. :toilet:

I used to love cold weather. The crisp air, the crystal blue ski. But, now I find that Winter hurts me. My hands stay frozen, my feet are like ice and my skin itches all the time.

56 days until Spring? Seems like an eternity. :(

May I join this I Despise Winter Club? I believe I have all the requisite emotions and physical reactions for membership. :)

When younger, I loved winter. We used to ski and longed for the first snowflakes to fall announcing the arrival of a new season. My husband was an expert skier and looked so graceful swooshing down the slopes. I could get down most slopes but got no points for form. However, I could hold my own at the apres ski snow bunny thing (sitting by the fire in the lodge sipping hot mulled wine and looking cute in a ski suit). Those days are long gone. We had to give up skiing many years ago after my husband's second back surgery. Just the thought of me trying to squeeze this aging body into a snow suit is nausiating. Sitting by the fire sipping hot mulled wine and looking "cute"? I don't think so!!! What good is all this snow now?????

The crowning blow came last night. We went out for dinner. Parking lots are full of ice and snow. After dinner my husband pulled the car up close to the restaurant so I wouldn't have to walk across the treacherous parking lot. I am timid walking across ice now...no more gliding, just fear of falling and breaking something I need. As I was tiptoeing gingerly to the car, a handsome young man came running up to me, grabbed my arm, walked me to the car, opened the car door and made sure I got in safely. How thoughtful and kind this man was! My ego, however, was a bit bruised. :biglaugh: I've progressed from a snow bunny to a white haired old lady who needs help from a Boy Scout to cross the street. Just exactly when did this transition take place? If I had noticed it happening, I am sure I would have written down the date.

Anyway, now that we are officially retired, we're going to do the snowbird thing and get the heck out of this cold weather nonsense. We're heading to warmer climes to join the rest of our species (other gray haired snowbirds) who migrated earlier. :woohoo:

Annie

I hate winter, too, and weather is terrible this weekend. I've lived in the Cleveland area all my life. As soon as our aging parents are gone, we are moving south. Not too far south, though. Then it's too hot.

I hate going out into the cold. I've always had to pee a lot when it's cold, and, well... now... it's just worse. My feet are frozen all the time ,too, but I found this cream that you can put on called ThemoMax Warm Cream. Also wool socks or microwave socks works well.

trytosmile
01-22-2005, 10:11 AM
Microwave socks ? Sign me up, where do I get such gems. I've just learned about these Therma products. I live in Canada and we can't get them here. Just purchases some of the heat pads, didn't really look at the other products available. I'm gonna get some of the cream for sure. Stick it on my nose too. I have an underactive thyroid which causes you to be cold all the time so cold weather , go away !

No going out today, open the door and SNOW ! It's everywhere, blowing, can't see the neighbours across the street.

LOL Annie,

Next time (if there is one) you just look that man in the eye and say "Thank you, sir, but I can take it from here!" :biglaugh:

What a bruise that must've left...I'll never forget when my 11 yr. old SIL referred to me as "old"...ugh...when did 22 become "old"??

Jen,

These aren't exactly the socks I have, but I found these. They will ship their products anywhere.

Ok girls-

Here's the deal... I'm offering sun, sun, and more sun for anyone that wants some. I'm in Scottsdale, AZ, and it's already summer here. YUCK!!!!! In the 80s already... While that sounds good to most of you, don't forget- 80 today means 120 in June, July, August, September... argh... I MISS THE SNOW! Call me nuts...

Anyway- need a break from the snow? Come on down... if you can put up with 1 teenager, 1 (mostly) DH, and the cat from hell. We'll open a new "Club UTI" right here in sunny AZ.

Honestly, I wish I could pack up some sunshine and send it your way... would a box of grapefruit do? ;)

Keep warm, and remember me while you're enjoying your wonderful summer, and I'm dying in the Valley of the Sunstroke... LOL!

Well Crap---

Today it's chilly and rainy... you may want to put off the trip for a week or so. And of course, I JUST cleaned the pool. Oh well... typical AZ weather. It's still warmer than most of the country, so if a little rain doesn't scare you. c'mon down!

My brother got married in Scottsdale 2 years ago and my hubby fell in love with the area (it was in November..silly man) I told him we couldn't move to AZ..no beach..he "corrected" me and told me AZ is one BIG beach..lol...hope you guys don't get too much rain...Florida is getting nice again...gonna be in the 70's today...

Ok any of you lot who want to travel to warmer climes, you may as well go the whole hog and come on down to Australia. You are all welcome to visit as long as you bring some of that snow with you.
Yesterday topped out at 105.5 officially but the outside temperature gauge in my car said it was 111.2 at 3.00 pm. To top that off my incredibilly clever 19yr old son went to the pool the day before without sunscreen! He thought ten minutes in the sun would be OK. He is burnt everywhere. I've just spent a small fortune at the chemist trying to get him some relief.
Yesterday was also our Australia Day, a public holiday but it was too hot to venture anywhere with a crispy son to celebrate.
Today it is cooler with an expected top of 85. My daughter has gone to the pool and before she went I made her check out her brother's back... she won't come home burnt!
KellyB from Schenectady NY is over here at the moment, I am looking forward to hear any comments she may have. I hope she is having a wonderful time.
Remember, some nice cool breeze from your way would be greatly appreciated.

Talk about from the sublime to the ridiculous. From well over 100degrees last week to today, the coldest February day on record 59! Soooo... thanks but you can keep the cold now. I'll wait until July.

We've had a pretty mild winter here in Illinois. Not much snow and only a few days here and there it was REALLY cold. It's pretty confusing to have a 50 degree day in Feb in the midwest. Even mother nature is confused.....yesterday it was raining, snowing, and sleeting at the same time.......strange!
