I'm in Plano. Would be interested in hearing about any local doctors you found to be helpful. Mary

Hi-
I found a great uro/gyno in Fort Worth. E-mail me if you want more information.

I think Michael England is a uro/gyno here in the Fort Worth area. The Uro I use is good with me but IC is not his specialty.

Thanks ladies for the info. While I'd love to find a great uro/gyno the thought of going to Fort Worth, having a cysto or something and driving home on a bad day is daunting indeed. It was a challenge when I went to Southwestern.

my gyn is in south arlington off I-20. he's been very helpful with treating my bladder. he actually found a treatment that worked for me after 3 urologists couldn't get it under control. let me know if you'd like his info. he takes pain very seriously. just pm me if you want.

he thought since the bladder instillations, elmiron, elavil, pyridium, etc the urologists tried (not to mention the VERY boring diet i had to adopt) didn't work, the doxycline regimen (100mg twice a day for 1 month for me, for 2 weeks for dh) might work. it was basically a crap shoot. fortunately, it worked for me for a while. i started having some flares again a few months after trying it, so he put me on low-dose birth control pills (also helps with endometriosis pain). the flares are pretty much gone now. i even eat oranges daily now.
a lot of people say if the doxy stuff worked, then you didn't have IC. but i've had 2 cystoscopies which showed IC, so i think it had a lot to do with why i feel better now. it doesn't work for everyone, but i was willing to try it. and heck, if both cystoscopies were wrong, then whatever. at least i feel good again. that's what's important i think.
