Well let me say that Tuesday is my surgery for the Interstim trial phase and I am quite nervous...I have had tons of surgerys in my life it seems though I seem to be more nervous than normal..I guess I am more scared about the pain I am gonna feel afterwards from it and how quickly I will feel at least somewhat back to normal...This condition is hard for me at times cause no one seems to understand it around me...I am just hoping for no pain...lol I am in pain everyday though so guess I'll be able to handle it..I'll be so happy if things go good and me and my bathroom won't be best friends any more..I was curious if anyone can let me know..which surgery the trial phase or the implanting surgery which is more painful recovery wise etc? In the next day or so till surgery I just plan on cleaning house big time so if i can't do much around here then at least things are in order....Well that is all lets just pray things go ok...

Hi Jennifer,

I had the "old way " with the trial with a just a needle putting in the lead wire with and it was very painful as my freezing did not work that well but if you are doing the surgery trial you are put out some are you not??
I am not use of this way of doing the trial ..
I still think having a needle put in at the dentist at the top of mouth is worst then this was...

Just do not lift or bend that much as the lead wire can move a bit ..
You can not take a bath that is the only thing that brother me..
I did not do to much but I did do a bit at a time you will know what you are able to do by the way you feel but no going nuts at house work that will have to wait until your trial is done..

We are all so different in how we react to pain so I hope this will help you a bit..

I will be thinking of you on Tuesday....all the best Jennifer...

Debbie

Hi Jennifer,

I had the newer version, and I would say that the after pain for my trial was equal to the after pain of my implant. Just my own personal experience. It really depends on how your body handles it; how sensitive the nerves are, how high of a threshold of pain you have?

About your nervousness--I can completely relate. I don't think I slept a wink the night before my surgery. It's okay, just try to relax till tomorrow and before you know it, you'll be home and recovering!!!

Keep us posted, and good luck :)

Hi good luck, my stage 2 is tomarrow the 18th also. Godd luck, it really wasn't as painful as I thought. I had myself more worked up then I needed to be. I actually made it without any pain meds for the 2 hour ride home, and had none after the surgery either. Take care and coddle that butt for a few days. LOL

Jennifer,
Please let me know how your interstim trial goes. My doctor mentioned this as an option for me and I am very nervous about it as well. I keep going back and forth about yes I think it is a good idea and no I don't. Please update me so that I can at least know of someone else that has had it done. I know no one with IC and am new to this site. Thanks!

Jennifer best of luck tom with your phase I trial I will be  for you. I had mine done in 2001. Just be careful after you have the trial done not to pull the wires out. I slipped off the steps on my porch when I had mine done but everything worked out fine.

Maribeth let me know if I can be of any help. I suggest you do plenty of research good and bad before you decide on the interstim. This can be a very hard and trying decision. I just wish when I got mine I had all the info before hand.
