Question about Elmiron

Hi! I am wondering if I can take my one Elmiron pill first thing in the a.m. and the other two right before bed? I find it hard not to eat for the whole 2 hours after or one hour before. Taking care of 2 little ones( my 2 kid's) and I can't keep track of all the pills too. Thanks alot:)

I don't know the answer to your question, but I find I have the same problem. I just go ahead and take the Elmiron anyway, even though I may have eaten in the hour prior to taking it. I guess the best thing I can think of is to suggest you ask your doctor.

Hopefully someone will come along with experience who can give you their thoughts.

I do it that way, but my doctor prescribes it for 3 x a day. So, I don't know if it is recommended or not, but I have done it that way for about a year and it is still working wonderfully.

I will say that were I starting it again I would stick to the 3 x a day to make sure I was doing everything exactly as outlined.

my doc has me on two pills twice a day because it's an easier schedule. however with his advice i was able to switch to two before bed and one in the morning, as the 4 pills a day were giving me some slight side effects.

I am only on one Elmiron twice a day. My uro says he's found most of his patients can handle this dose without as many side effects. I did briefly try going to three a day but had too much trouble. Anyway, I do take one right before bed and sometimes right when I get up. Through the work week, I keep my midmorning dose in a plastic bag on my desk and set a computer reminder to remind me in between breakfast and lunch. I know there are differing opinions about taking it on an empty stomache. I asked my uro and he said it's best on empty, but if I can only remember it with a meal then it's not a huge deal. You might check with your doctor. There are quite a few differing opinions.

I take mine 3x spread out through the day. I was told by 2 UROS to not worry about the food issue and this especially applied to GI patients of which I am one. I just take it morning noonish and
night, and I don't keep track of eating or not. Good luck.

I am suppose to be on 1 capsule 2x a day. But, I can only handle 1 capsule at night 2 hours after eating. I can hear my tummy grumble during the night because I'm hungry. I tried taking the morning capsule but it makes me feel funny, like tightness in the throat. I asked my uro and he said maybe I have too much acid in the morning and was okay with me taking 1. After about 3 months, I am to try the second dose again.

I struggled with the timing issue of elmiron for a long time until I decided to take them all three at night before bed. It has worked wonders! I had read a while back that some uros will approve this regimen, so I decided to try it and to my surprise it worked! It was so hard to do all the timing stuff! Hope this helps! :)

I take 4 a day...2 at about 5:00am...and the other 2 before dinner...
