Hi guys,
I remember reading about someone that does self hydrodistentions. Does anyone know if this is possible? Hydrodistentions are the only thing that helps my IC. Unfortunetly my uro dropped me right before I was supposed to have one. ( I have them every 3-4 months) So this leaves me with no Uro and no distention. If anyone has info on this or has heard of this could you let me know?
Thanks
Big Hugs,
Danielle

Hydrodistentions are done in a hospital operating room with anesthesia. I believe the post you refer to was from someone who was unable to urinate and had a huge amount of urine before she could get someone to catheterize her.
Are you saying that your urologist told you he would no longer treat you? Was there a reason given?

I have had cystos done in hospitals under anesthia and in office exam rooms without. But anyways, No the post was written by a man, it was only a few days ago. Cause I remember the replies were how do you do that? and such. And I have called them5 times to ask why and I am pretty sure it's because I have an outstanding bill I cannot pay. I don't work anymore and with the pain dr and the psychiatrist at 50 bucks a pop and then a 500 copay for the first cysto they never told us about and then my 5 year old daughter has to have surgery in a few weeks, I don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of!!!(Excuse my language) But I do specificialy remember it being about self distention, darn I wish I could find it.

I'm sorry hon i have never heard of someone doing that to themself. the only way i have that done is in the hosp. by my doctor matter of fact i'm going to have another one done Feb 8. alone with hunner removal and a leap.
Hope you feel better soon and can find a uro to help you.
if you go to the e.r and have them to refer you back to that uro then he will have to see you.
More then likely he didn't even drop you it was his staff who does the billing.
at one time my doctor office tried that crap with me i ended up in the er and they sent me right back to him once a hosp. sends you back to him there isn't much his billing staff can do about it.

The hosptials here will refer me to a uro in this area. I travelled an hour and hakf to see this uro, so I don't think that will work. Besides my 15 days to find another doctor are up. I just don't know what to do. I know if I have the distention I will feel much better, but no doc, no money=no distention. It's just frustrating to know that there is something that helps me live a normal life with this disease and I can't have it done. But they don't care if you are suffering, if you can't pay the bill, tough luck on you. (Sorry went off into a little venting)
Wishing you all a pain free day,
Danielle

If you are without funds, you should be eligible for some assistance through your state. One way to find out how to apply would be to call the Social Services Department at your local hospital.

My husband makes to much money for me to get any assistance from the state. So that is not an option. He doesn't make alot of money, just a little bit over that extremely low income figure that they have for you to be in need of assistance.

yes saddy the state rules suck!! sorry but that is the way i feel about the goverment system most of time.
I don't know how the laws work in your state but here the doctor must treat you for 30 days after they release you to find a new doctor.
If you want to keep that doctor drive up to the e.r where he is located. and ask them to refer you back to him.
or go to your local hosp. and ask them to refer you to a uro who knows I.C that is the only other thing i know to tell you hon.
I know of all types of ways to pay hosp. bills but when it comes to doctor bills i dont know of any way to pay them but out of the pocket :( i'm sorry i'm not no help :((

Many doctors will work with you on a payment plan if you're up front about it. It's something you might discuss at your first visit with any new doctor.

Most churches have an assistance program for people who can't pay hopsital bills. Catholic churches have something through the archdicese (Spell) that help people who can't afford the hosp/doc bills. I had to do this when my dad died. There should also be a caharity hosp. near by that will help. If worse comes to worse I hate to tell you to do this but its better than suffering in pain go to the local welfare office and tell them that you are seperated from your husband and get medical help that way. You cant treat yourself and you certainly cant suffer because you cant afford the help.
Good luck
I will be praying for you
