Hi everyone.

Well my cysto was scheduled for Jan 12th, last wensday. I went in for it. Spent four hours waiting in post op in my little hospital gown and booties and was told I didn't need one. They had the one from before about four years ago. It showed nothing except alittle inflammation that might be mild IC according to the previous Uro. I spoke to the new uro on wens before I was to go in and told him about my symptoms and how if I do the diet strict I have no problems at all so he said I really didn't need the cysto since I had it before and I was feeling better lately.
I am pretty gald  since I didn't want to get it done. They don't put you asleep here for the cysto & hydro. Im postive they don't because I asked him on wens. Also he said for biopsi they wouldn't put you asleep. I asked wouldn't it be painful? and he said sure but due to how fast it was under 15 mins, that it didn't warrant being put to sleep. Also they won't give you anything for anxiety. They just put some freezing stuff on the opening to the urethra and do it.
So anyway I was pretty gald I didn't have to get it done that way. Is this noraml? or barbaric? I can't see me doing it without alot of pain. Also he never gives pain killers or antibiotics afterwards....The last time I had it done I had antibiotics at least as well some ativan to help relax. Anyway those poor people who were sitting in there with me - probley 50 in those last four hours were done.....

Is this a normal way to do cysto & biopsi?

I have to say that a hydrodistention and biopsies without anesthesia is barbaric! I think I would be seeking another physician for a second opinion.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Hey Guys I Have A Question For You??? I Had A Cysto In 2003 That Is When I Was Diag. With Ic, Now I'm Four Mths. Preg. And I Asked My Dr. To Do A Cysto After I Have The Baby. I Don't Want To Go Through The Pain But I Want To See New Pics. Of My Bladder, This Dr. Did Not Diag. Me With The Ic All He Has Done Is The Bladder Treatments Where He Breaks Up 2 Elmrion Pills Into My Bladder. Well My Question Is How Long After The Baby Do You Think I Should Wait To Have The Cysto. They Baby Is Due July 24th And I Was Thinking I Couls Wait Till December To Do The Cysto But Do You Thnik I Should Try To Do The Cysot Sooner??? Thanks, I'm Going To Ask My Dr. What He Thinks, But I Was Just Wondering What Yall Think.

i had cysto done about a year and a half ago i was 17 at the time.. it was the worst feeling ever i was in so much pain... thank god they put me to sleep... but after everything was over later that night was so horrible ... they prescribed me pain killers but the worst thing is my mom wouldnt go get them for me because she thought it was to strong for such "a little procedure" i hope i never have to have a cysto done ever... it sucks being this young and going to a uro office and everyone is 70 and above.. and the thing is i have been having reocurring uti's since i was 13 and my mom has never had one! what causes this problem if its not genetics?
