Today I was at the store looking at Evian water, and it says that it has absorbic acid in it. Is that kind of acid bad?

Evian water bothers my IC. I drink Arrowhead water--distilled at home & the 16 oz bottles of drinking water at work or in the car.

And yes, ascorbic acid is not good for the IC bladder. (I've never seen that on an Evian label, but very little surprises me anymore when it comes to our overuse of chemical additives...)

Absorbic Acid is vitamin C, and yes, it is the kind that bothers many IC'ers. I guess it just depends on how much it contains, and just how sensitive one is to it.

I wonder if this is something new they are adding to their water, if so, it's a good thing you are bringing it to the attention of others.

Wait a min.....now that I think of it, I think I was looking at the Gerber Pear Juice...wow I'm sorry for that confusion. I don't think it was the Evian Water...sorry about that! What a dope I am!

Why does everyone say to drink Evian Water instead of other bottled water?

Personallly, as much water as I drink (about a gallon a day) I cannot afford Evian to find out if it would be a trigger for me....the stress of the cost of it would probably bring on a flare for me lol. I don't even know that I am sensitive to any brand of water, but when I buy bottled water I buy distilled or spring water, and if I'm filling my 5 gal jugs for my home water dispenser I fill them with reverse osmosis water and haven't had problmes with any.

There are a number of icers that cannot drink Evian, perhaps some of them will chime in an tell you about their experiences. You want to look for spring water with nothing added.

I cannot drink evian. When I began this diet (which I still can't get a handle on after 9 mos.) I drank Evian and chammomile tea. Turns out they are both triggers for me. I drink poland spring and hot water with some honey. Other than that the only t hing I can drink are MCd vanilla milkshakes and an occasional carona lite (go figure)

The Nurse Practitioner at my uro office said that Fiji water has a real low PH and good for IC.

It does have a bland taste. I switch between Evian and Figi now.

Harleybluz - I drink Evian w/o any issues luckily. Evian has a pH of 7.2 which seems to be why it's preferred over other brands. I also like Fuji water.

I don't know about the acid, but I absolutely cannot tolerate Evian! It hates me! I usually drink Deer Park instead.

I am wondering if I am having the same issues with Evian bothering my bladder. Fiji definitely did. It's so bizarre!

I couldn't handle Fiji when I tried it, but Arrowhead is what I rely on these days and it seems to be fine. I am heading to the East Coast for winter break and I guess they don't carry it there. Any suggestions from IC'ers on the East side of the country? I'll be in upstate NY.

We have well water at home so I drink from the tap. When we are away from home, I buy bottled spring water --- I just read the label to be sure there are no additives.
