I'm considering taking in a dog that's right at one year of age. Problem is, it's not house broken. It would need to be kept inside, because where I live if it was left outside something would surely eat it for dinner. I've had plenty of dogs over my lifetime that I've trained to go out to do their duties, but all were puppies. Is it even possible to teach an 'older' dog this new trick?

And if you've done it, how?

Sure it can. A lot of repotision and using what ever command you want it to know as out, potty, pee, and it's just like Imustpee said just like a puppy,we trained a 2 year old taht had lived on a farm in about a week. No accidents during training either, we just didn't let her out to play only to potty until she realized what out was for. Good Luck

Many times if a dog has lived outside, it's very easy to house train. The dog is already used to going outdoors and may not even want to go indoors.

Take that little girl in. She'll be fine. I've heard that dogs can be house broke at any age. It's just easier with a puppy. Just be patients. Since she's only one, she shouldn't be that bad because she's not that old. Chelsey
