I am a 18 yr old girl and have recently been
dignosed with IC, it's a experience. I not
only get sick but hot and cold fevers lower
stomach pains and unable to eat certain
things is the hardest. I don't have a life
anymore I feel it's draining me. I am suppose
to be happy but all I feel is depressed. I
even hate myself sometimes and start blaming
myself. I feel alone because family doesn't
understand. I pee constantly, I hate it!!

Being told you have IC is extremely devastating at any age, and I certainly understand how you are feeling right now. I'm glad you found the IC Network. You'll find a great deal of support from people of all ages who understand because all of us have IC.

It can take time to find which treatments and medications work best for you, but most of us do ... and there is life with IC.

Diet is extremely important and can be tough to follow at times. It can be a challenge, especially when eating away from home, but if you think of the trigger foods as allergies, it makes it much simpler and you don't have to do any other explaining.

The Patient Handbook on this site has some excellent information which you can share with family to help them understand.
