WOW I feel really proud to be an Aussie right now. I have been watching a fund raising appeal on our Local t.v station raising monies for the tusnsmi victims. Melbourne & Sydney ( two of our major cities) come together with some of Australia's hottest celbs & bands to put on a concert for the people,were people can call in & donate money.They had some great bands & celbs taking phone calls for the night & are pleased to say within just a few short hours they raised over 15 million dollars. Amazing stuff. And that was only one of the hundreds of chariety raising events that Australia has put together for this cause, there are still so many happening around the country it is awesome :woohoo:
My husbands company had a casual dress day for all the staff on Friday, for them & the customers to donate, & the the boss of the company is going to match the total dollar for dollar, he has about 8 stores around the area so that is a great effort on his behalf also.
It just goes to show when peope need help no matter what we can all pitch in alittle & help. THe size of the donation is not important it's the thought that counts. We only donated $5 but it was something.
Just though I would share that with you all... Australia is an amazing place, I feel very proud tonight.
