On the 7th of this month, I turn 16. Could you guys help me think of something to do on my birthday?
What I'd actually like to do is go dancing, but the last time I attemped that, it really increased my pain. Some of you might remember my post about that. Basically, homecoming ended with me sitting on the floor, against the wall, crying because of the pain. The guy I went with was at first supportive of such things, but has since become tired of having to put up with it and has terminated our 9 month relationship because of events like that one. I don't want to depress the people I care about by going out dancing, and then not being able to dance.
 = :toilet:
My mother suggested getting a hotel and going swimming in the pool, but I seriously don't want to. Along with the reason above, I've also had an edpisode of incontinence last month and I don't want to get in a bathing suit again until I know that won't happen anymore.
Please help me think of a fun activity that I can do for my birthday in my current state of health!

We like to go bowling. There is a group of us......and I even went out and bought my own shoes!
You always have access to a bathroom there.
Even if you don't feel like playing (and on occasion I have felt cruddy) you can just sit there. It is so fun cheering your friends on.
Most times no one even notices when I sit out.
And bowling is pretty inexpensive.
I hope you have a great b-day!!!

How about dinner out with some friends, then a movie --- followed by having several girl friends stay at your home for a pajama party.

Hmmm. I'm always trying to think of fun IC-friendly social activities myself.

Are there any multi-player board games you like a lot? Trivial Pursuit and Cranium can be played with teams, and other games like Risk involve lots of people. I know this might sound lame but I have seriously had college-age people pass up a night at bars in favor of a Risk tournament.

Bowling also sounds like an excellent idea if there's an alley in your area. Come to think of it, I'm stealing that as a date idea.

Also, could you do something kind of ironic and silly? As long as everyone in your party is under 18, you could go to a place like Chucky Cheese or some other arcade and have a party like you used to when you were kids! I actually did that in high school with my theatre buddies.

The last idea I have is that sometimes beauty schools will do very inexpensive make-overs. One of my friends took us all to a beauty school and we got our hair and nails done, then went out to dinner, very overdressed for the place.

I hope that whatever you do, your birthday is a blast!!

Both my daughters have had or attended just about every possible type of party...from a limo to the the Hard Rock Cafe for a nice loud evening...concerts and...often their faves, especially in the past few years? Jammies, fun stuff to eat (and this part is nice for you cause you can sneak in your own IC friendly ones), stay up all night, pedicures, giggles, gossip and movies etc. My youngest has a karaoke machine with tv lyrics, so they have had lots of fun with that. You might find something like that to do somewhere as well. Mostly they really just like hanging out together. Of course if you want the guys involved the sleepover part could be an after movie/dinner thing. Think of the things you most like to do and are the happiest at and turn it into a celebration...whatever it is....have loads of fun. :) Of course now that my girls are in college and beyond, they just go into the city! ;)

I work at a salon/day spa we do birthday parties most salons do. We do pedicures, massage, nails, makeup, and style the hair. You can call salons in your area and see what they offer but its both fun and relaxing. We give all the girls gift bags with hair samples and neat stuff.. Just a thought the girls usually love being pampered.
Whatever you decide have a great time.

You can always have a party at your home where you can control the snacks, etc. and level of activity. Put on some good music and let the others dance. Maybe you can manage a dance or two, also. You be the DJ and picture, video taker. You can also rent some old movies...I mean really old. That way you and your friends can watch and make fun of them, making comments about how lame they are...how stupid the dialog and clothing was back in the "good 'ol days".

Whatever you do, I hope your "Sweet 16" Birthday is the best ever. :woohoo:

:birthday: :birthday: :birthday:

During my IC teenage years, my parents owned a resort, so we would crowd into the dining room for dinner, then off to a cabin for scary movies, music, gossip, and talk about boys LOL. I love the idea of a girlie pajama party--that way you can stay home in your comfy jammies, and be near a bathroom at all times. ;)

Host your own BUNKO party at your home or a friends home. Easy bathroom access and you can serve IC friendly food and drink. You're never too young to enjoy BUNKO

definitely a movie and dinner can work. I started doing that every year now, sicne during the movie if you have to leave you can always pop out to use the washroom then come back :) Bowling is also good and if you really don't feel up to going out you can always rent movies order in some food and have a couple of friends over.
Hope you have a great B-day...

UPDATE:

On my birthday, yesterday, I had a small family gathering. We went to dinner and the mall with my mother, little sister, "step"sister, and "step"father. Well, they're not techincally (legally) my stepfamily, but you know how it is.
Next weekend, I have a party with friends planned. It's going to be a sleepover, so I can stay close to the bathroom (as Jess pointed out). I've decided on a combined birthday party with my "step"sister (who turns 17 on the 20th), partially to take some of the pressure of throwing a party off of me. We have enough mutual friends to make this work, luckily.
Thank you for all of the suggestions. The ones I didn't use this time, I might still use next time.
P.S. Michelle, what's "BUNKO"? :hmm:

I think Michelle is referring to Bunco --- which is a dice game you can find in most toy stores. It's for older kids and adults and lots of fun.
