Congratulations Alexa, you are in for the ride of your life!
Every aspect of your life is about to change, but only for the better. Being a Mum is the most wonderful thing.
You will be up for sleepness nights, tiredness you won't believe, mushy brain etc etc. I have loved every minute of it.
I am sitting here trying to think of some inspirational words for you. But as I think of my own two children (now 19 & 16) I'm just getting too emotional. I'm remembering the first time I held each of them, their first smiles, steps, words, christmas, days at school. The first time your child slips their hand into yours will take your breath away.
Many, Many people will give you advice, mine is to listen to it and discard what doesn't feel right. I am so happy for you and your husband.
Please keep posting as your pregnancy progresses.
Can we all be aunts and uncles?
Rosalie

We're so excited! Thank you! :)
But.....I have a cold right now and I'm pretty miserable! Quite honestly I'm the first one to pop a pill at the first sign of discomfort so it's hard not taking some cold meds (but then I look at the ultrasound picture and it's all worthwhile!) :) I couldn't get any sleep last night because I was all stuffed up, but I suppose it's just prepping me for all those sleepless nights ahead!
My ultrasound the other day went well but the technician couldn't measure the baby properly because it was curled up on its stomach sleeping! (needs to be stretched out a bit more to be accurately measured) She was tapping my stomach, trying to move/wake up the baby but I can see it's already a troublemaker :D ... I'm going later on this week for another ultrasound so hopefully he/she will be more in the mood to cooperate!

OK I'm getting more miserable with this cold....any natural (pregnancy-friendly) remedies anyone can share?
Thanks! :)

Alexa,
Don't be afraid to call your Dr. for an answer to this question ~I would offer some help, but I honestly cant remember. I too am the first to grab a "remedy" and without Nyquil I'd be miserable. I am in the midst of the same cold...one thing I remember is in my first pregancy I had horrid sinus issues and migraines...eventually they treated the migraines...but do call, I am sure they have a "can do" list of things for "mommys to be". Feel better, and Happy New Baby Year!

Alexa, Saline nose drops, and those new Sudafed vapor plugs that you use in the wall work well to relieve snuffy cruddy nose. I was able to use benadryl when I was pregnant you may want to ask about that.

Those Breathe Right strips are really good, too. We get the kind with menthol. They help a lot and are good because they aren't medicine. They are great with a stuffy nose. My husband has horrible allergies and uses them a lot - especially at night.
Hope you feel better soon! :)

can you handle chicken soup? If you can't handle canned, can you make some yourself? I read a study a couple of years ago that said chicken soup actually worked and often out performs the pills.
Also, an OTC nasal spray called "Nasal-Crom" works great for me. ASK the doc first though. If nothing else, you can use the saline nose sprays, Vicks rub, break open a lemon and breathe the citrus burst...........hmmmmmmmmm stuff like that.........
Hugssssssssssssssssss sick sick is no fun...........
(How are you about people patting your tummy? :giggles:)
Love to you both........Julie :-)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I'm feeling MUCH better now! My mother-in-law even made me a big pot of chicken soup which was great! :)
