I have just been recently been diagnosed with IC, and I am having a difficult time dealing with it. I may also have IBS, but that has not been confirmed, so I am pretending that I don't, even though my abdomen is in a lot of pain. I could use any advice or support I can get. I live in Jackson, Mich.

Hello from another Michigander! The best advice I can give is check out the handbook, loads of information there! "http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/" and the diet info in the handbook http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/diet.html#list these have been the two best helpers/advice I was given when I first started posting here about a month ago. (I so hope these links work for you, I don't really trust my "linking skills" lol)
The diet has been a great tool for me to decrease the pain -- without a doc's help. It was something I could do for me, until my doctor and I got a treatment plan in place. That and coming here asking anything I could think of, I have learned so much just from scouring the boards. It's unbeleivable what I have discovered!!!
Well, I just wanted to say welcome to the boards and hello! These are the greatest people, so kind, helpful and caring -- don't know what I would have done had I not found this place and these people!!!
Take Care,
Tracey :)

Hi mott04 and welcome to ICN!
Tracey's right, the handbook is a great place to start. Like her, I learned a whole lot about IC at this site, -possible treatments, self-help tricks, etc. The diet was one of the first steps I took, and the change for me was dramatic. I highly recommend giving it a try.
IC can be very difficult to deal with, especially in the beginning. I do want you to know that most of us find better days following diagnosis & treatment. This site is wonderful when you need a shoulder to lean on. Feel free to ask any questions, or voice any concerns you might have. There's bound to be someone who'll share their thoughts & experiences with you.
Again, welcome! Hope you find relief soon!

I just wanted to add my warm welcome to the ICN. It's a great place with a lot of people who can support you. You've gotten some good advice. One thing I'll add is that IC is little different for everyone - which means it sometimes takes a little bit of trial and error to find the treatment (s) that work best for you. If you have a good doctor, that helps the most. Take a look at the patient handbook and let us know if you have any specific questions. Take Care!
Wishing you better days~
Jennifer
