Hi all, I'm 23 weeks pregnant and was dx with IC about 2 years ago. I've come to this board on and off but finally have a question ineed to ask.

About 2 weeks ago I started getting VERY bad pains in my lower abdomen on the right side. The only thing I can figure is that it's my bladder spasming. I never had that symptom before.
I went to the OB and he suggested round ligament pain and did an U/S and nothing was there. So I know nothing is wrong with the pregnancy...Thank God. I mentioned my IC and he really didn't say anything about that.

Has anyone ever exp. this kind of pain? Is the baby just now strong enough to really hurt my bladder? I notice it more when I'm curled up in bed or sitting for a long time, when I get up, I can hardly stand up straight.

Anyone? Thanks,

Erin

Is it pain or a tightening of sorts. I ask this because I am one who has Braxton Hicks contractions very early in pregnancies. they did get painful when in a consisten mode. while Braxton Hicks are are typically benign contractions, it was explained to me that they are also working contractions...for me a little too working and too early. i would ask your OB about them, as far as the bladder connection I did not have IC, so can't speak to that possibility...good luck and just call for peace of mind, though the ultra sound sounds reaffirming.

Thanks for your reply.
No, it's pain. I asked my OB because I do get normal contracting of the uterus and that happens higher up and that's tightening. My pain is too low. It almost feels like when your ovulating and have a nice big cyst. It's way down there.
He said the contracting was normal as long as it doesn't happen like 4 or 5 times in an hour, which it doesn't.
Last night was a pretty good night, just a little pain when I got up to go pee. Maybe that's just all it is? :hmm:

gosh, I hope it resolves itself. Perhaps it is pressure on your bladder, I guess just keeping track of it would be best and call on your OB as needed. Good luck and hope it behaves during the holiday week at least. the B/H explanation makes sense, so at least you have that r/o. With my first pregnancy I had a tipped uterus which caused me a lot of pain and my dr. much angst. After an ultrasound r/o anything of concern, I was asked to try to rest on the opposite side to keep the pressure of my uterous in balance...just an idea.
