Katrina,

Though I also suffer with bouts of IBS, they vary as to the symptoms and reasons for flaring, as I am sure you experience to. I found this link for you and think you may want to check it out...I have also a search engine link I will give you as the second link. Feel better! :)

Katrina,

I am not sure which site you are referring to, but I know for me, many remedies for things really interfere with my IBS and GI disorders and vice versa...my best friend thinks I should only use herbal rememdies, but the interaction rate is high with so many meds...so I think I understand what you are saying...

I live on Immodium Advanced...it is great for those unpredictable days and my Gastroenterologist says I can use it whenever...if I have an early day out of the house, I take it just in case and it helps so much.

I know you have Crohn's disease, so i am not sure how that complicates things, but my guess is it's a lot. Good Luck, perhaps one of the sites can help, feel good for the season. :kissing:

Katrina,
Is this the post the one you were looking for..I too am trying to find out more about IBS. It all started back in May when I had been on Elmiron almost a year.. I had to stop taking it.. Thought if I did that IBS would go away .. well not so .. I did feel better for awhile. I still have no idea what triggers are..The sites Betty put links to are helpfully and I have been reading but have not registered on that message board.. Hope You get the answers you are looking for Katrina... I am just going to search and search.. and I do know 2 people near by who have it and when I get up my courage I will call them.. I know them but just not close friends..
Take care..

Katrina,

I find the gas to be the worst part of IBS as well. I've yet to find anything that works either, so I'm interested in any suggestions others have as well. What I tend to do now is not eat around others. I hosted Thanksgiving at my house this year for my husband's family. I had just a little turkey and potatoes (no gravy :() while everyone was eating, then pigged out on leftovers after everyone left!

Oh my gosh, me too! I added vegetarian baked beans to my diet this weekend (I'm on an elimination diet and am adding something new each week) and I felt awful with all the above symptoms. Same as when I drink milk! Any thoughts on this, do these products agitate your IBS too?

Have you heard of celiac? I was misdiagnosed with IBS for 32 years of my life. It turned out to be celiac. It's a gluten intolerance. Do some reading or email me privately if you want more info.

Katrina,
One time my IBS put me in a pickle for days with gas it felt as if it was traped around stomach and ribs. I worked then and I thought I was going to die. I went to Walmart to see what they had for gas and I decided to try this product called Phazyme I think I got the maxiuim strenght. I started to take this product as perscibed on box and it started working. This is the best product over the counter that I have found for gas. I was pretty impressed. I have had my IBS and esphogueal reflux to go off at one time and had to go to doctor to get shot of nubain and phenergan. Then sent me home with pain meds and muscle relaxers. This pain was horrible it felt like I was going to have a heart attack or explode. I now take Priolsec OTC everyday to keep GERD under control. IBS flares my doctor calls me in xanax muslce relaxer and it works well or Librax. I hope you get straightened out.

I am very thankful for all of the replies. I am improving and hopefully will continue to do so as I learn more. Since I have gas everyday and all the time...and way more than normal treating it after the fact isn't exactly the goal but it does help. I looked some into Celiac and although I doubt that is me the diet may be helpful...see my IBS is caused by my Crohns so kinda makes sense that I have it....and theese symptoms began with after the Crohns....non the less finding food I can eat is always a pluss! Living on Chicken may turn me into one someday?!?!?!?!? Anyway, since my research has basically told me that gas is the untreatable part of IBS anytime we learn anything about how to treat or prevent that gas lets share it!!!! Love ya all!!
