Has anyone had their IC be caused by endometriosis(not inside the bladder)and was either misdiagnosed or it made the bladder pain worse? Will treatments like dsmo or meds still help IC even if endo is causing it??
please help me:(

Hi and :welcome: !
I just want to let you know that I have endo and IC as well. I had a laparoscopy in April 2003, and was only doing well for a few months when the pain came back with a vengeance. My specialist (he's a uro-gyne) did a cystoscopy in September and determined that I have IC. But I have no frequency or burning, and I'm not affected by foods. It's just the same constant abdominal pain that I had when it was the endo. I 'm planning on having another lap done in the new year. My GP (who actually listens to me, unlike the specialist) is convinced it's the endo again. So in my situation, treatments for IC don't work. I take Amitriptyline for the pain, and Advil for inflammation.
I hope you feel better soon! :)

Hi, when endo began in me my whole body did a hormonal change and it really hurt my IC....but even after that endo pain and IC pain would happen at once....megga pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not heard of endo actually causing IC though....all though it can occur in the bladder. DMSO should still help your IC even if endo is making you worse too...but if endo contributes a lot you need to treat it too. :( sorry. I want you to know you are far from alone with having both. Unfortunatly there are a lot of us. If you do a search at this site http://www.ic-network.com/search.html on Endometriosis you will find there have been speakers on it and such. Maybe that will help you. There are specialist that do think there is a connection between them....for me hormones affecting both, along with similar symptoms is a big connection. I added an attachment of a speaker on IC and Endo that I saved.
