View Full Version : What Do I Drink?!?!
I'm so fed up with water!
I never liked coffee or tea in my life, so even the coffees in the ICN store would be gross to me.
I've been trying to like herbal teas, but it's so hard.
All I drink is pear juice-and that's probably causing my flare that won't go away.
And I'm lactose intolerant so I use rice milk for my cereal, but rice milk, even Lactaid milk, is usually gross if you drink it alone, it's verrrrry sweet.
So I'm out of drinks and very afraid to try any soda.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use to sweeten some water and add some flavor?

You might try some of the flavored Torini or DaVinci syrups (they are available in some supermarkets and in gourmet coffee shops). They are usually sold to put in coffee, but in summer, I put a little bit in water and chill it to make a delicious drink. I get the sugar free kinds, which are sweetened with Splenda. It only takes a tiny bit to make a mildly flavored drink.

Have you tried taking Prelief with the pear juice? Many pear juice brands contain vitamin C, which can be a problem for us. The Prelief might solve that?
Good luck.
For me, the beverages I drink are: Pear Juice, decaf low acid coffee mixed with milk, Carob Rice Dream, Sobe Lizard Blizzard - I use a lot of ice to dilute these because they are very sweet..
I just got plain peppermint tea and plain chamomile tea to try (maybe those would work for you?)
Hope you find something that works!

I would try hot water with honey in it. Not only is it better than just plain old water, but the hot seems to have a calming effect on me & the honey is awesome for a sore throat & a little flavor.

I drink cammiole tea. I know you said you don't like tea, but tea can become an acquired taste, as it did with me, and now I enjoy it. It is such a calming tea and I find warm liquids soothe things. I hate cold drinks since I got IC. I am allergic to milk, not just lactose intolerant, so I can't have lactose free products either. I know where you are coming from!

There is a large variety of tea but that like other things will take trial and error to see what works for you. Camomile tea is one I enjoy but it is a member of the ragweed family and those who are allergic to ragweed may have problems with it.
It is tough..I haven't found any juice I can drink but I am still working out what I have probelms with and haven't tried pear juice yet. It is frustrating.

I actually broke down and tried the hot water with honey in it.... I was so skeptical about that one ;). Buuuuuut, I really really like it! :) I was sooo happy! I can drink the Celestial Seasonings Blueberry tea, but I didn't want to get myself bored on that, lol, since it's that or water. Nice to be able to "mix it up" a little...lmao! (ooh ya, Sister is right, I definitely had troubles with Chammomile the one time I tried it, lots of trips to the bathroom and what a burn! Yeouch! I must be one of the ones sensitive to ragweed, lol. I may wait a month or so, and try again! Who knows??)

Red Rasberry leaf tea might be a good option. It has a good reputation as being good for women (helps uterine lining, causes VERY mild contractions that strengthen uterine walls..considered safe for pregnancy)

I drink pear juice occasionally-I really don't like it though. I do buy pure blueberry juice-it is sooo good! It is expensive-$12.50 a bottle-it takes 2.5 pounds of blueberries to make one bottle. It has no additives or other juices, just 100% pure blueberry. It is made in Delta, BC-but it could be available in the states too.
I stick to water and milk. What about Ovaltine or Caf-lib? I haven't tried it before. I LOVE coffee...I drink decaf, low-acid types. I'm lucky it doesn't bother me-I stick to decaf. I took coffee out of my diet and then introduced it again and no problems! Yahoo!!! Good thing because I work at Starbucks!!
I too get tired of drinking bottled water when I go out for a drink with my friends.
