Well, since October, I have had three different antibiotics, from GP, OBGYN and have been to Urologist who straight cathed for urine, checked for residual and checked to see if bladder had dropped. No blood. No bacteria, bladder not down. On Detrol LA for a month now. Still having discomfort in lower abdomen, achy back, some spasms. Burning again on urination for the last three days. The info says Pyridium ok for a couple days. I seem to need it longer than that. What is the danger? Is there a better one for spasms and burning?
Several times over the last 7 yrs, I have had UTI symptoms without bacteria and I blamed it on coffee/cappuccino or too much pop. Several times I really did have bacteria.
I went back to Uro last week, was feeling better at that time, with just trying Prelief, I really felt better and the Benadryl was helping immediately too. So, Uro did not suggest a Cysto at that time. But now for the last few days it must be a flare. I would like to know if a Cysto causes you to feel worse afterwards? This really bothers me. If I can somehow feel better on my own, I sure don't want to have a flare again, caused by having a Cysto. I know that we need to know for sure if it is IC. Also, I would like to try to treat my symptoms as long as possible with meds only. And then later, if things get worse, try the Heparin instillations. Do they cause much discomfort afterwards? Is Cystistat available at all in the U.S.? If so, where? Does a Cysto in the office show enough without doing hydrodistention? Is a Cysto too painful to tolerate without being asleep? CT of pelvis and Colonoscopy were ok.
I appreciate all of you so much. The forum on how you have relieved your discomfort has been so helpful. I have been crying a lot but you give me hope. I would not worry so much but I have to work and I need to find some relief tactics so that I can work in a little comfort. I can't take narcotics and do my job. And besides that, they make me feel awful. Am using Advil at this time, just as needed. I have been taking Bromelain, Ester C, Quercetin, Pyridium, my BP meds, blood sugar med, Prelief, Detrol LA, Vit E.
Is anyone else here Diabetic with IC?
The Uro says I am especially sounding more like IC since I told her that Benadryl helped quickly. I guess the next step is to schedule a Cystoscopy.
