undefinedundefinedundefined I was in pain on and off for years but in October it got really bad.I was in so much pain I could not get out of the bed the last few days in Oct.I went to Dr first of November he started running test mind you two very painful test so he decided to do surgery to go ahead and take my ovaries out and get scar tissue and to see what was going on with my bladder.Well he do all of that and found that I have IC. So here I am 3 weeks after surgery still in pain and don't know what to do.Finally went back to work after missing a month. He is trying me on a cheaper medicine for a month to see if it will help. But also I have seizure the medicine I take for them assorbs the pain medicine so I was having to have to use really strong medicine after the surgery.I went back to Dr for check up Thursday and he acts like I am a pain pill junkie because I have used up most of the pain medicine.I sure hope this gets better. He had said this is a life time disease and we are going to have to figure out what works but do I just suppose to be in severe pain untill we do or untill it decides it wants to take a break from hurting. Please tell me there is hope in the furture. :)
There is hope and it can be so hard to believe it in the beginning and during times when we are hurting. :kissing: Most people with IC really do find treatments that help them live normal lives --- but getting there can be such a tedious process and so frustrating.... :(
It is good that you are asking for help with your pain --- the pain is real and it is OK to ask for meds for it. What kinds of meds has he tried and has he discussed what things he may try in the future?
Doing your own research here will help - make sure you check out the Patient Handbook: www.ic-network.com/handbook It can be overwhelming so take it in pieces. I found that I was best able to help my uro after I did some reading of my own. That in turn helped me emotionally b/c I felt empowered and not quite so helpless.
Hang in there, OK, and keep asking questions. We care. :kissing:

:hi: and :welcome to the icn family i'm sorry you have I.C a lot of people find the I.C diet helps a great deal of there systoms you can find the diet at the web site vm gave you above that is a great handbook for icers.
you may need to go back in to make sure you don't have an infection some people get a U.T.I after surgery :( this may also help you if its a U.T.I.
You need to call your doctor and ask him for some type of pain medicine if you don't have any if you do please call him and tell him you need something a bit stronger for a few days to help you get over this flare.
There is many good treatments out there for I.C
the main thing that has helped me is cocktail treatments but i tried many treatments before i started the cocktail treatments at home.
I do hope you find some answers soon
sending you hugs and prayerss

I suggest you put yourself on an IC diet right now. Just avoiding high acid foods and drinks can help a great deal in controlling symptoms. And yes, it's a good idea to call your doctor and ask for help in controlling your pain until you are feeling better.
Sending warm healing thoughts,
Donna
