Hi everyone,
Jess had emergency surgery over the weekend. She had an appendectomy and some unrelated complications. I don't know too much else, except that she has been feeling really lousy for awhile and it may explain away some of the symptoms she has been through. I am sure a well wish would help, when she gets home to read the boards and rest. Thanks all.
Happy Holidays to all~
I hope you feel better soon, Jess. :kissing: We're all thinking of you and hope your recovery is swift.

Dearest Jess, may you find rest and comfort in knowing that there are many at this cyberspace oasis of healing helps who are praying for you. This 'bend in the road' was not unexpected to the One who has you imprinted in the palm of His hand. He will love and carry you through this valley into His rainbow of promise using the ones from your spiritual family to bless and enourage you. May the Heavenly Father be your refuge and your strength. For He is an everpresent help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1-3)
Love and prayerhugs, Grams

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say thanks right off the bat to Betsie. God bless her, she has been so very good to me during this rough patch since I got out of the hospital. :kissing:
Well I'll give a semi-quick run down of what occurred. Agh, hang in there.
Thanksgiving day--ripped off the Fentanyl Patch after a few days of it's use, as it was causing urinary retention.
Next day, Friday, had a pain clinic appointment. I woke up early because it was an early appointment, and was extremely dizzy. I couldn't catch my balance at all. Went to the appointment, all my vitals were very off, including a fever, and very low blood pressure. The doctor didn't think much of it. I went on with my day, and by 1:30 I was sick. By 2:30 I was doubled over in pain.
I was throwing up, running a temp, and in so much pain I could barely breathe. My husband and mom took me to the e.r. at 7 that night. The doctor ordered an ultrasound of my gallbladder and upper G.I. It turned out normal, and so I was sent home with the dx of "drug withdrawal". Although, my White Blood Cell count was slightly elevated and I was so sick, and go weeks on end without taking a pain med. (For fear of becoming addicted!!! Ironic, huh?)
We get home at midnight, and now I'm throwing up so hard I lose control of my bladder. My husband gets me to bed. I barely sleep that night, and when I wake up for the final time at 6 a.m. the pain has localized to my right side, just below my belly button and on the side...like a few inches from my belly button.
I woke my husband up, told him my appendix is going to burst, that I want to go back. I call the e.r. and the nurse gives me an attitude about coming back, but I knew something was wrong. We get to the e.r. at 8, they take more blood. My WBC count had doubled since the 12 hours before.
Soo now I get a new doc. He orders a CT Scan. Ok so this day is a blur, as I was having pain meds injected into my IV along with anti-vomiting meds. A surgeon (I should say THE surgeon) comes in to talk to me, and admits me to the hospital.
The surgeon, Dr. H., says there is a lot of fluid in my abdomen, as well as two cysts on one ovary. They are very tiny, but he calls an OB/GYN consult to be sure that this isn't all from the cysts.
The OB/GYN comes in at 5, does a pelvic exam (Thank God for doped up pain medication) and rules out the cysts, says they are normal since I had just ended my period a few days before.
Dr. H comes back in at 7, and says he supsects it's either my gallbladder or appendix, and wants to do a laparscopy and find out. At 8, I'm in surgery.
I wake up at 10 in ICU. I had to stay there for an hour because I was unable to breathe on my own for some reason. I got up to my room at 11, and sent my family home, though my husband, bless his soul, wanted to sleep in the chair next to my bed. I find out that my appendix was the culprit, but so was my gallbladder, but he left the g.b. and hopes that it will straighten itself out.
So I spent a few days in, and that was no fun. Hospital food is NASTY, I am so glad I didn't have an appetite. Who knew that such a useless organ can cause so much pain??
Thankfully my uro was on call that weekend, and told Dr. H to get me off of the Potassium IV...I was peeing literally every 1/2 hour!
The gallbladder is a mess. It was wrapped in bile and toxins from the appendix. All that fluid had to be suctioned out thanks to my goofy appendix. What a mess. I am so glad to be home. You really don't get much rest in the hospital...
Thanks for all the well wishes. I am still on the road to recovery, I might need to go back in to get my gallbladder taken out, but let's hope not!!
Hugs and love,
Jess

Hey Jess-
So good to see you posting after such an ordeal. You give me too much credit, all I did was post for you as you have done for many here yourself!
You had to recover and deal with this alone (well family and hubby of course). So glad you have a family like you do.
I am so sorry for the nightmare, but you are a tough cookie and got through it like a trooper.
Welcome back and continue to feel better and get lots of rest! ;)
At least you beat the holiday season and should feel really good for Christmas. :)
Hugs,
ICNDonna

Egad! I'm so sorry you had to go through so much. If it hadn't been for your IC, they probably would have picked up on the appendicitis sooner --- and you wouldn't have had so many problems. I hope your recovery will be fast now that the surgery is over.
Warm hugs,
Donna
