I am a bit concerned. I never had any pain during sex the whole time I was bothered by my urethra (that was my first "pain": spasms, felt like I was peeing broken glass, etc.), but when it came to sex, no troubles. Now that I had that UTI that seemed to kick this first "real" flare into gear (along with some assistance from PMS hormones), will I now have painful intercourse??? I am a bit nervous about it, have been in no way shap or form ready for that kind of activity, but when I think I am fianlly ready...it now kind of makes me a bit nervous! Any thoughts or input ladies??? :hmm:

Thanks,
Tracey

I don't know the answer, but I understand your nervousness. :( You'll probably just have to take it really slow, use lots of lubrication, "IC safe" positions, and say "no" or "slow down" when you need to. I suppose the only way you'll really know is to try it at some point when you feel ready.

What a nerve racking thought, lol. I guess I had better make sure I am really RELAXED too, can't imagine being all tensed up would be a good thing...

Thanks! Tracey

Yeah, being tensed up wouldn't help. ;) My husband gives me a full body massage prior to sex and I think that has helped me a lot. I lookat it this way - the guy enjoys giving the massage, we like getting it, and it helps us really relax and that helps for intercourse.

Try not to worry too much - you may absolutely not have a problem! :)

What a great idea! Anything for relaxation I am all for... ;) Especially when I get a pretty good benefit out of it! :)

Thanks again for the idea!

Sounds like a great idea, prevent the pain so you never have it. I have some more advise, stay perfectly still especially around your pelvis for atleast 15 minutes afterwards....you may want to add some heat to that. Basically if you get worse you may incounter pain from sex but it is hard to be sure right now. What is possible is that even though it isn't painful to you now your body may be bothered and best thing to do even at this stage is prevent other diseases such as Pelvic Floor Disfusction while you can.

Thanks ladies, at least I kind of have some tricks up my sleeve now, and that takes away a bit of the "fear of the unknown", if you know what I mean. I guess that's the scariest stuff...the unknown!!

Sorry but NO WAY would I be staying still for 15mins afterwards, aren't we supposed to be running to the loo to wee to prevent UTI???????

Isn't it horrible that we get so clinical about sex??

More suggestions...

Right, Sara, drink lots of water before and after and pee immediately after sex.

Use lubrication.

I apply a warm washcloth to the vaginal area after sex then go to bed with a heating pad.

Also, don't have sex again without both of you having a shower. I've heard that the bacteria starts to grow and will be redistributed if you don't.

Wow, thanks even more girls! I all of a sudden got into a giggling fit here, thinking of all the "pre-sex" prep work to be done, LOL! I can see me going through my mental check list...."got lube, check...drink lots of water, check..." etc... Well, they say to make sex fun! You guys are great! :)
