HI all. I am somewhat new to this game & am in misery. It has been suspected that I have either IC or deep endometriosis that 2 previous laps haven't picked up.

I am currently in the middle of an invitro fertilization protocol to get pregnant and I am scared! I am in pain now - med free except for all the hormones - and am worried that it will get worse during my pregnancy & I won't be able to handle it.

I am worried that the IC (if it is IC) will cause a miscarriage.

Both gyno, uro and endo specialist say that IC and endo shouldn't be a problem if I get pregnant so they want to try that before another surgery BUT what if they are wrong??

Is there anyone out there who had their pain get better during pregnancy? That is my only symptom - no frequency or urgency issues.

I am terrified and I'm at the end of my rope. This disease seems to have taken so much of my life away and am wondering if it will take away my shot at having a child as well. Will I ever be the person I was a few months ago?

Please advise if you can I am truly, truly at my wits end. (i posted this on the pregnancy board as well)

I have already had my babies but I have a friend that has IC and is expecting. She has been symptom-free since she became pregnant.

I don't know if it's the norm, but all three times I was pregnant my IC symptoms stopped for the duration of the pregnancies. The third did end in miscarriage, but I don't believe it was IC related.

Hang in there and have hope! For myself, I was at my most miserable point prior to diagnosis. Since beginning treatment and learning about my diet/pain relationships, I feel almost normal now. Sometimes I even forget I have a bladder!

:welcome: I have endo and IC and I didn't think they both have some people that have difficulty pregnancies and some that feel so much better during pregnancy they could be happier...and some fall inbetween some where. That is pain and symptom wise....I have not heard of either hurting the child other than through the suffering they go through. If you work with your doctor and research the safe treatments you have a good chance of falling on the side of a good pregnancy...but just like everyone you need to be extra careful.

http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7562 this link is a pain managment post. The second page has 4 attachments...the last one is a list of ideas for IC pain.....take a look if pain is problem for you. There are some healthy ways to treat your symptoms in here and in the handbook and ICN store. STOP WORRYING!

I understand that neither IC or endo make it easy....but you are doing the right thing by doing some research of your own....and I want you to trust that your efforts will help things go well for you.

Question: Did the women who had symptoms go away during pregnancy have them return after pregnancy? this leads me to believe that hormones are involved. Now if someone could think of a way to put a women in pregnancy mode without being pregnant!!!
