I know I have scar tissue in my bladder so I would imagine it is possible in the urethra as well.

Sending healing thoughts,

After my cysto/hydro in June 2003, I learned I have significant scarring in my bladder, either from IC or from UTI's.

It seems it is possible that the urethra could get scarred too. But I would think that the bladder is more common.

My dr. took pictures of my riddled urethra along with my bladder during my hydro/cysto so yes for some I think scaring can be present in the urethra. I've had very bad infections all my life. I remember my mom putting salv on my burning urethral exterior as a child. My dr. said he has never seen a urethra as scarred and inflamed as mine. It explains my urethral burning that I get so often and it is also why I get so many infections. It seems its always inflamed and thus bacteria attaches itself readily thus I get recurring UTI's.

My new nurse practitioner who works for my urogyno gave me a bladder wash and said she couldn't believe how inflamed it was. I explained that it wasn't bothering me at the time but that is how it is all the time.

I hope this has been helpful.
