Incontinence Pads for Swimming

Hello, I wear incontinence pads and need them daily; I experience stress incontinence and urge incontinece. They work well for fitness walking and other land based activities. At the beach, I don't worry since no one call tell.
At the pool, I am worried about that pool urine dye showing up leakage. Does anyone know what to do without wearing an adult 'swim diaper' which is more for fecal incontinence? I had thought of putting a towel inside my bathing suit, even if it just masks the leakage. I cough and pee in the pool a bit. I am also running to the ladies room every 20 minutes. Last winter I would soak through an incontinence pad just while walking quickly although I went to the bathroom before exercise.

Have you talked with your doctor about your stress incontinence? I used to have a problem, but had it repaired. It's such a relief to not have to worry about it.

I have the same problem. Its hard to know what to wear when you go swimming. Im in a wheelchair and have trouble changing in public dressing rooms and in some places you cant get a wheelchair in a place to change. I used to wear Depends Fitted Briefs under shorts to swim in when they were less absorbent and came in a smaller size. I still wear them at the lake and less crowded areas. They still work and stay together good as long as you dont mind the bulkiness but they can be noticable around other people once you have been in the water for a while. I swam in these from the time i got out of pampers (around 10-12 years old) until I started using youth disposable training pants about 12 years ago. I found that its easiest to wear something similar to Goodnights training pants under a pair of shorts. They fit low in the waist and as long as you are careful about the kind you wear and get the snuggest fitting ones you can wear, they don't swell up enough to notice through the shorts and they don't restrict your movement. I wouldnt wear the name brand Goodnights though. The waistband comes apart too easy. I like SleepWells or SleepPants training pants. Some pads will also hold up (for urinary use) for swimming if you wear them in snug fitting underpants. I would test whatever you are going to use before you use them at the pool. Hope this helps.

Although I wasn't there I have heard about one of my friends sister peeing in the pool and the water around her turning purple. Not all pools are like that though, it might be best to test the waters... so to speak so you know that is some leakage does occur it won't go noticed.

There is no pool dye, its a myth to scare people so they wont pee in the pool. It would cost them more than its worth plus it adds more risk of health issues than urine would. Thats also an advantage of wearing a disposable diaper while swimming, the urine doesnt go directly into the water. Depending on how snug it fits the urine stays in the diaper and gradually comes out when you start moving or the current carries out what doesnt go into the padding.
