Hi Indy,

I had Botox done for the fifth time last Friday. I had my pelvic floor, urethra, and bladder. For the first time the uro injected the vestibule & bartolin glands too for the vestibulitis and vulvodynia. It really helps with that too!!

The only time I ever had any trouble was the first time I had some problems with retention. The uro used two bottles just in the bladder - after that he never has used more then one in the bladder and after he injected the urethra and pelvic floor it actually was easier to empty my bladder then it was before.

Even with retention the first time, I thought it was a small price to pay for pain releif. I just used a catheter a few times and it got better.

This time (the fifth) I didnīt have in my bladder, I think Botox is not helping me so much for my IC, but the injections in urethra and pelvic floor allways help me so much!, in fact, my dr injects the pelvic floor inside my vagina, and my vulvodynia is better now, Iīm without pain, but I have a little burn yet

My dr allways injects only 100 units

Cindy: I sent you again an email to you hotmail account, did you receive it??

Hi Flore, after you had the injections (Botox) into your vagina, how soon did you get pain relief? Thanks for your help.

Hi Louise!!

I think I began to feel relief 2 weeks after the injections. In fact, now I can have sex without pain

Did you have the injections too??

I my opinion there isn't a down side to botox. I love the treatment because as Louise said sex isn't painful anymore which makes things easier in our love lives. I'm planning on my next injections in early Jan. or late Dec. That is my christmas break from school. Flore- how are things going with you? Cin- Things with u? I had first injections in August so I can tell I need it again. I find it funny weird that botox being a poision helps with IC. I'm not going to knock or question a good thing. Finals are next week and my stress level is getting higher but hopefully I'll manage. Take care everyone. Miss talking to all of you.

Hi Kristin!!

Iīm very well, I donīt have pain in my vagina and pelvic floor. I donīt know why, but everytime that I have the injections, I have diferent reactions. For example, this time I can have sex again, without problem, but this time I canīt urinate well

So I bought the TENS for relaxing my pelvic floor, and is great!!!

Can I give you an advice????, I know that you are in a flare now, youīre right, is because of the stress that you have now. If I were you, I would wait after the exams to see if Iīm better, because I think is very soon to you to have the injections again. I know that is correct to have the injections every 4 or 9 months.

What do you think????

Flore-

I'm coming up 5 months since the last time so I'm up for it. I'm still in school and I need to graduate and Jan is the onlt time i have free. I go to school out of state so I have to go home. I've been in pain for a while for about two weeks and my urg/freq is back. I'm back to not leaving the house and staying in bed because of the pain. My teachers have given me extensions on finishing my classes. Thanks for the advice. I know it doesn't seem like 5months does it. Time flies when you are able to do more. Take care of yourself.

Hi,

I just wanted to make a note regarding the Botox and being able to have sex.
Actually it was Flore who mentioned that sex was not painful.
I am happy for her but since I just had my Botox injections over two weeks ago sex is about the last activity on my list that I am prepared for.
But I do hope that one day in the future I will be able to have sex again.

Louise,
I would have to agree with you on that one. I have never had Botox cuz I am a big chicken.

Good Luck to the ladies that are being the pioneers for Botox.
Merry Xmas everyone.

Hi!!!

Kristin: Sorry!!, I thought that you had Botox 3 months ago!!, and if you had it 5 months ago is perfect to have the injections again!!

Louise: This is my fifth time with the injections, and I donīt know if Iīm better now because this is not my first time. In fact, in my association I met a patient that was very bad after the injections for may be 2 months

I donīt know too if the quantity is relevant. I only had 100 units between the urethra, pelvic floor and vagina

Ruth: I was very afraid when my dr told me about the Botox, and when he told me I didnīt know to other patient with this treatment. So I investigated, and trusted to my dr. I thought that my life was very misserable and I decided to had it. I can say that my life is MY LIFE after the Botox. And Iīm not scared anymore

My insurance doesn't cover Botox. How are you all getting this procedure paid for?

Indy-

My parents pay for the actual botox but my insurance pays for the cysto which is how the injections are done. A cysto is a normal procedure and your insurance should apy for that. My doc gets the botox from the company so I only pay $500 each time. I think it is 100units but I'm not sure.Just ask your doc to call to see if the cysto is covered and then you only have to pay for the botox. It seems expensive but if you look at other treatments you spend 500 easily. botox lasts 4-6 maybe longer so don't give up even if the insurance doesn't pay. Godd luck to you.

Icy:

Do you need anesthesia and an operating room, etc?

I am seriously thinking about it if my current PT and medicines don't work. I'm not sure who is doing it in the Los Angeles area.

In México Botox is not experimental, so my insurance pays for it. Here is chiper, the vial (100 units) costs 400 usd

I have the injections in the surgery room and with anesthesia

Indy: I'm completly knocked out and yes it is in an OR. My bladder is very sensitive so my doc doesn't want to add to my pain. After he finishes the injection he puts a heparin instill in my bladder to help heal. I'm going in for a second time after christmas. Good luick to you.
