Yahoo!
The Mercy hospital rang this morning and I'm booked in for my cysto next Tuesday. Santa is coming early. I've had cystos before but I don't think they were looking for IC then. So I know what to expect afterwards... that first pee certainly smarts! But I don't care. If nothing else, at least I can finally have an official name put to this pain.
Wish me luck!

Well I finally had my cysto yesterday at St Vincents ( not Mercy) silly me. I had a spinal block which was very interesting. It was wonderful for a few hours not feeling anything in the bladder region at all. I guess not being aware constantly of your bladder is what not having IC feels like. Pretty darn good!
Being awake and looking at the pictures of my own bladder was very freaky! However, I also had a needle to relax me, so I didn't think to ask any questions while it was all going on. :bonk:
Everyone at the hospital was wonderful and I couldn't have been cared for any better.
But now I have to wait until the 16th for my results.

Hi Rosalie,

Glad you survived the cysto! I had a hydrodistension at the same time as mine, and was under general anaesthetic, so I didn't get the joy of seeing my bladder at all :(

Hope you are feeling OK and good luck with the results on the 16th!

You were awake??!! YIKES! Not for me, they'd have to knock me out cold.

So glad to see you survived it ok :woohoo:

The being awake wasn't originally my idea. However, I had an operation nearly two years ago to repair a hiatus hernia. The top of my stomach was wrapped around the base of the oesophagus and tightened. Great for the reflux pain but I now have severe trouble vomiting and that is something I always do after a general anaesthetic.
If its not one thing its another!
