Hi all,

The Elavil is working wonders on my frequency!!! I've gone from every 30-45 minutes to every 1-2 hours :woohoo: . It was so cool today because my husband and I drove down to the track (he races RC stadium trucks) and we had to stop so HE could pee, but I made it all the way to the track, back into town, to Petsmart, and then home! And now I'm not even sure that it is making me gain weight like I thought, because I dropped two of the three pounds I had gained the day after my period started (we need an emoticon for BLOATED, lol).

It doesn't seem to be helping my pain, though :loco: . I'm hoping maybe I can talk to my doctor about occasional pain meds or even a TENS unit in addition to my current therapy. With the diazepam and the Elavil helping my frequency/urgency and my IBS-type symptoms, all that's left is my sore tummy (which is, of course, my worse symptom, but I think the frequency was the most annoying).

Anyways, just wanted to share my story!

Great news!
Can I bug you with some questions? :)
How long have you been taking Elavil?
I just started about three weeks ago, and I can't really tell if it's helping or not.
What's your dose? I'm on 10 mg.
Well, I hope you continue to improve :grouphug:

Green, I started Elavil a couple of weeks ago. However, I am taking 25 mg every night with directions to increase the dosage to 50 mg if I can. I haven't increased it yet, but probably will do so this weekend (if I don't gain any weight).

BTW, Emily Dickinson is my absolute all-time favorite poet :). This is one of my faves (pardon me if I misquote, but I think I remember it correctly): "Hope is a subtle glutton | He feeds upon the fair | And yet, inspected closely | What abstinence is there! | His is the halcyon table | Which never seats but one | And whatsoever is consumed | The same amounts remain." Also a bit applicable to IC, wouldn't you think?? Emily wasn't the most positive person, lol.

Hi Stella,
Just wanted to let you know that Elavil first helped my frequency at 10mg, but increasing the dose to 20mg helped my pain. Am glad you're feeling better & hope you feel even better than that soon!

Wonderful news!!! I'm so happy your frequency is down... I agree completely that the frequency and urgency of IC are the absolute worst in terms of annoyance factor!!!! When mine was at its height I would get so frustrated with it I'd cry or scream or want to pull my own hair out *sigh* Luckily I too have found a combo of meds and physical therapy, and they have helped me quite a bit in that area!
