I'm new here, my daughter has this disease, but I believe there are differences in the way people's bodies metabolize/integrate outside agents especially vaccinations received as a small child. I know my dauter is severely allergic to antibiotics and she had horrendous reactions (was hospitalized) to her immunizations....I think it all starts there.

I totally understand about allergies. All three of my children have allergies that include skin problems. They did okay with their immunizations, but at that time they were still immunizing for smallpox and they couldn't have that. They don't seem to be allergic to antibiotics, but I am allergic to sulfonomides and penicillin so I have to be very careful. I wear a Medic Alert bracelet to be sure nobody ever gives me any.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Yes, add me to the allergy/skin sensitivity list. Somehow I figure it factors into this nasty disease. Maybe the allergies just weaken the immune system or overstimulate it, thus leaving us unable to fight off something a "healthy" person could.

weird thing with my I seemed to get my IC after getting some vaccinations as a child(against HepB and Measles). Just wonder if it has anything to do with causing it.. hmmmm.

I believe the Hepatitis B vaccine could be one of the causes for IC. My daughter had the vaccine when she was 18. I wanted her immuned when she went off to college. A very close friend's daughter is a nurse and she has all kinds of medical problems and you know all medical workers get the "B" vaccine. There are a lot of nurses that have IC and other problems.

I know I had frequency and getting up at night way before I had the Hepatitis vaccine. I work in a dental clinic and all of my co-workers have been vaccinated and no one else it. My children got their first shot at birth and neither of one of them has it*knock on wood*.

I do have alleriges/asthma...both my sisters do too, and neither one has IC. As a child though, they both had much worse allergies than I, and I got worse as I got older.

I have terrible allergies and, when my allergies started getting worse, I developed IC. I hope some day we get the answers--- some day soon!
