I just had the most amazing, wonderful experience. I got to talk to the doctor who was a pioneer with the Bion and is I guess one of the leading experts in the country on Interstim. His name is (edited) and he is the most kind, compassionate, truly wonderful doctor anyone could ever imagine. He was so nice to me I had to stop myself from getting tears in my eyes, you know? And you could just tell by the look on his face that he had true compassion for IC patients. I'm telling you, this doctor is the kind of doctor that people write movies about, like "Patch Adams" etc. to say how wonderful they are.

Okay, enough gushing, I was just amazed at what a nice doctor he was, and how patient he was with my questions.

Anyway, he is doing a new study with Bion, he was kind of the head of the research using it on incontinence etc. and now he's going to try it on IC, once the paperwork is all done on the approval process.

I told him if the Singulair I'm trying now (just wanted to try everything I could before giving up on medicines) doesn't work for me I wanted to see if I could get in to the trial. He said I could!

So I'm really excited that I might be one of the first IC'ers to get this device. It's so tiny - he showed it to me - probably about one inch long and considerably smaller in diameter than a drinking straw.

I better go get something from the internet and post it so you guys can see for yourselves what this Bion is. Anyway I'm kind of psyched about it.

I'd rather try Bion rather than interstim because with the track record with interstim...eh....I'll take my chances on a newer device...

Although this Singulair stuff so far (only taken it one day) is making my bladder feel like a normal person's bladder. If it keeps helping me like this then maybe I won't ever need Bion or anything.

Blessings, Lori

Hi, Lori.
What a cool doc :)

I hadn't heard of the Bion before, but I know now! Thanks, I love hearing about new treatment options.
It's very interesting that the device should go to a loaction adjacent to the pudendal nerve. I wonder how involved the pudendal nerve is with IC.
Have you heard of Pudendal Nerve Entrapment? There is an article about it on the ICN: http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/selfhelp0103.html
Well, I've got nothing really useful to say, lol. I hope that, if you get to the point where you need the Bion, it will help you. If you do...could I call you the Bionic Woman? :lmao:
Thanks again!
