Antibiotics

Me again..... So much for going to bed about 2 hrs ago. Once I start I like to go on & on in case you haden't noticed :biglaugh:
Just a quick question have any of you used an antibiotic long term for the purpose of IC.. I have been reading a bit about it helping some, so I thought It may be worth a shot.
Let me know if any of you have tried this & what you took & how much & how long.
I really am going now I can hardley type now & I feel like i'm in the cloulds.
Carnt belive silly people pay loads of money to feel spacey like this. I hate this feeling :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

It's nice to have yet another Aussie on these boards. When I first started coming here there wasn't another Aussie in sight, now there are several of us :woohoo: I hope you find lots of support & helpful information here & feel free to ask any questions, if one person carn't help you there is always another who can.
I'm so glad you have had success with your antibiotics, I think it is something I will try, (anything is worth a shot) My GP is great, although he does not know a whole lot about IC he is willing to work with me on most things.

My Uro put me on long term antibiotics along with the elavil,elmiron, and Detrol La. The anti. is called Macrodatin. So far so good.

Andrea - I occassionally take Macrodantin after sex to decrease the chances of getting UTIs on top of the IC. It does prevent any major infections when I take it, but doesn't do much for IC-related flares...

hey Andrea,

Just thought I'd say that I tried Macrodantin for a few months, did nothing. Had major flares the whole time. I still try it post-sex but although it may prevent an infection, does NOT prevent a flare!! :rolleyes:
