Has anyone here tried accupuncture? I was considering it, did a little research and saw a couple of people on alternative med message boards with chronic bladder problems had a lot of relief.

I am thinking of trying it, my gyn encouraged me to give it a shot. I hear it's painless, but I HATE needles!

Sounds interesting....but what if you have to pee during the treatment? :help: You know I'm just kidding. I hope if you try it you'll get some relief! Best wishes!

I am very interested in acupuncture. I had a friend who suffered chronic pain for years and years and tried it on a whim and he helped her tremendously. My only hesitation was that insurance doesn't cover it for me, but I still think I'd like to try it.

Hi All:

I tried acupuncture but unfortunately it did nothing for me. The placement of the needles did not hurt at all -- they are very fine. The MD I saw did not think the procedure would help -- I have had EC and symptoms for too many years -- but he figured it was worth a try. He is also a pain specialist, and employs physical therapists to treat PFD. We tried TENS but that only made my bladder spasms worse.

EC is much more difficult to treat than IC. Acupunture may just be helpful to some IC sufferers. It is worth a try. You should know if it is working within 6 or so treatments.

Good Luck and feel better.

I am going to try the accupuncture next week, as my Dr thinks it worth a try. I am willing to try anything at the moment. I am in such a bad flare and desparte for some relief.

Will let you know how it goes.

Accupuncture was the only thing that gave me any relief when I tried it a few years ago. The needles generally don't hurt but some accupuncture points are more sensitive than others. You might get a little "ping".
It is really quite relaxing.
I'll love to know how you all respond to the treatments.

I tried accupuncture. Unfortunately, it made no difference & cost me a lot of money, so I ended up going through with Interstim.

I tried Accupressure years ago and got a lot of relief. It took awhile but it was worth it. We decided to try accupunture since the accupressure was helping. It did nothing. I lost track of the doctor that did it.
