Medical Transcription

I am looking into taking courses for Medical Transcription, and was wondering if anyone is doing this or at least taking courses for it. I'm trying to find out if this is something I want to do, and the different possibilities for taking it. I am looking into taking online courses for it and need somewhere I could get a loan or some kind of financial help and only pay a certain amount each month, and something that won't take too long, or cost too much, and will help me find a job when done. I've been too sick and just can't sit here for hours trying to find which online courses are the best. So if anyone know of any websites that offer this, or can give me any info on this, and share there experiences with it if you are trying it then please let me know! Thank you!

If there are any community colleges in your area you might check their web sites. Usually they have a 2 year degree program for this. Colleges now have distance learning where you can take your classes through telecourses or online. I wish you the best of luck in finding something. Chelsey

I looked into that myself but it never did take off. I received information in the mail from various institutes. People I spoke with about it talked me out of it. One lady I spoke with who had done it said it has disadvantages. A lot of the doctors these days are foreign and are hard to understand. Also, technology will replace transcriptionists one day. I called a few hospitals to ask if they hired people who have taken correspondence courses and they said they pretty much had their transcriptionists established and don't need to hire them often. I live in a relatively small town and the closest cities are not huge so you may have more opportunities where you live. I don't mean to be a damper but after researching the subject, it wasn't right for me. Some people do it and love it.
