This is probably a stupid question, but can Claritin cause a yeast infection? I don't get them very often and usually there is a reason why(antibiotics, nylon panties etc) The only thing different if my Dr. put me on claritin for my allergies. I had to get dressed up and go to a wedding with this!! :headbang: :bonk: Iam in pain when I get one so I am trying to figure it out.

It 's not listed as a side effect in any of my drug books that I checked but everyone reacts differently to medicine so who knows for sure. Sorry to hear you have to deal with that on top of everything else. Some times you just have a spontaneous overgrowth of yeast in the vagina and that leads to a yeast infection. Have you taken antibiotics lately, worked out, or worn different type of clothing?

Amanda,
I have done nothing different besides the Claritin. Who knows why I got it? :headbang: Probably stress! :bonk: (if that is possible) Thanks for checking your book.

No problem. Life just loves to kick us when we're down doesn't it? Oh well, at least the one day treatment is available, pricey but available. But the one day treatment doesn't mean relief in one day, it still takes three or four days to feel better, you just don't have to deal with the mess of the treatment more than one day

I know!! Before the wedding we went to last Sat., my boyfriend went to the store to try and get soething for me and ofcourse, he got the store brand 3 day treatment. (we are trying to save $ so it was the cheapest) Most guys wouldn't even fo buy that stuff. :) I'm still suffering and probably will until friday or so. Oh, well!

That is love right there. A guy will not go to the store and buy you yeast infection cream or pads or tampons unless he is truely in love. :)

That is what my friend told me too. :) Funny you said that, he actually got me pantyliners too!! :biglaugh: He's bought me tylenol suppositories for my migraines before too! He really does love me. :woohoo:

Stress would be possible since it weakens our bodies...thus weakens our immune system.

This post made me smile! Not for your yeast infection, they are nasty and I hope by now you are feeling better.

I am smiling at the remarks on your boyfriend's unconditional love and support.

My husband of 25 yrs (6 years together prior) is the "resident" shopper for the three girls in his life! With two older daughters and a wife with terrible periods, he has done it all and without hesitation...ever.

When one of my daughters would have a large sleepover he would stock the game room bathroom with assorted tampons and pads and always he makes sure there is plenty of "Cramprin" as he likes to call it.

My daughters and there friends have no problem going to him and asking what he has for really bad cramps, etc. I am just realizing that this man is a true saint! I hope my daughters marry someone with anywhere near the compassion this guy has! The fact that he can put up with the three of us is nothing short of a miracle.

My advice to you? Hang on to that guy of yours...he sounds like a keeper. Funny that I should be half paying attention to a show on renewing your vows....hmmmm.

Feel better and hopefuly your infection was just a fluke and not set off by the claritan. Sorry to be long winded, but I couldn't resist. :)

Betsie,

I think your daughters will look for the same qualities in their mates as they see in their father. You, and they, are very fortunate to have such a sensitive caring male in the household.

Since yeast is a specific organism, I sincerely doubt if the claritin could cause it.

Thank you evryone for the suggestions! :)

Betsie,
Thankyou for your advice and I am glad I made you smile! :) i do have a great guy and it sounds like you do too. My dad is also the guy that would go to the store for tampons etc. I guess it's true that daughters look for a man like their father!! ;)

P.S.
My mom's mane is Betsie too, only Betsy.
