I know there is a list of foods on the site some acceptable, some questionable and some to avoid for IC sufferers. Could someone tell me some of the ingredients to look for on food packages that most of us ICers need to avoid. Thanks!

Hi Cobie,
I'm in the middle of moving & my cookbooks are in a box, but I think "A Taste of the Good Life" cookbook that they sell here on site, has a mention of food additives/preservatives.. You might want to ask about it first if you decide to order the book. I found the book to super-helpful when first diagnosed & trying to manage the diet:)

Off-hand, my biggest ugliest flares have come from an additive called "metabisulfite", used as a preservative. I also avoid foods that list acids in their ingredients, although am never sure if the quantities are really substantial enough to cause flare. I'm maybe over-cautious at this point?

Good luck, and I can't wait to hear other replies to this great question!!!
