Researchers at the Laboratory of Proteomics and Analytical Technologies in Maryland may have discovered a new, useful method for diagnosing both UTI and/or IC by using mass spectrometry and high-resolution proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). They have identified different spectral patterns between IC-affected and non-affected individuals as well as those suffering from bacterial cystitis (BC) with an 84% success rate.

84% success rate for a non-invasive test sounds great! :woohoo:
Thanks for the post Jill!

Thanks, Jill!

LOL I just wanna know why my docs missed the UTI I must obviously have had, LOL! I got better on Amoxicillin, and that's only possible when a person has a UTI - why didn't my tests show it??? Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, with Army health care.

Well, this test will hopefully weed out cases like this. I wonder if this test will also help to predict the people who will benefit from a trial of Doxycyline, like that article says, that one that said some patients the docs were ready to slap an "IC" label on, got better on Doxycycline? It seems like docs are having a hard time distinguishing between the two, so I'm really glad for tests that will help them figure out which problem their patients have.

Blessings, Lori
