I'm so sick i can't stand it between the fever the pain in my bladder back and leg I don't know how much more i can take.
I know i stay sick a lot but dang i haven't been this sick since i was admitted in the hosp. about two years ago.
the rn called today and said the test came back from my urine that i was on the wrong anti. so they was calling me in the Z pack I hope it kicks in soon
last night i went to bed around 11:30 p.m I didn't sleep well from the pain I seen every hour on the hour until four a.m this morning.
when the Rn called today i begged her to get me back in to see my uro and she said he was fixing to leave for surgery.
my perocets isn't touching this pain I know its back up in my kidneys not just one kidney but both kidneys both feel like someone has hit them with a bat. I thought about going to the E.R but i'm so sick i don't know if i can stand the wait if i go to the new e.r i would have to wait like four hours before seeing an er doctor but that hosp seem to know about ic and how painful it is but its a new er that just open at hosp.
If i go to the e.r where i live at chances are the one and only er doctor that knows about ic want be there and it will be one of them that hasn' t never heard of it or doesnt believe ic is painful.
I have to see the gyn tomorrow but don't know if i can stand them to touch me down there with all the pain but if i cancel the appt it will be almost six mths before i can get back in.
Heck i don't know what to do but i do know this has got me down and out and depressed.
I could hardle get out the bed this morning :yikes: does anyone have any advice to calm my fears?

I'm sorry you are in so much pain. IC pain is definately not taken seriously enough. Are they sure now that you are on the right antibiotics that will get rid of your infection? I have had a couple very serious kidney infections. One I almost died from and I know it is very painful. Sometimes even unbearable even to stnad up straight. I wish that thre was a sedative or something you could take that would get you to sleep. I know when I'm asleep atleast I'm not consciencly hurting. I wish I knew what to say to help you or what would help you. I hope you find some help and soon. take care - Chris

(((HUGS))) That's a wonderful idea to go into the ER, maybe even get an IV version of the antibiotics that will knock out your infection because that way maybe it will get cleared up quicker plus maybe they can give you a shot of a pain medicine that will be strong enough to control your pain while the antibiotics clear up the infection.
I'll tell you, infection can hurt bad enough even percocets don't touch it. There's just something about an active infection, that the body won't let you forget about it even for a minute. It's no fun and I feel bad for you going through this and I sure hope you are going to be feeling better very soon.
I think that if you can get into the ER and get a good shot of demerol or something that makes your pain stop and get an IV with IV antibiotics to really knock that infection out fast, you will feel better faster.
I'll keep you in my prayers that you will heal fast and feel better soon.
Blessings, Lori
Rhonda, I am so sorry you are going through this again, bless your heart. I think going to the ER sounds like the thing to do if your Dr. can't see you. I hope you get what you need. :kissing:

:) Honey, I'm so sorry to hear all this. You really deserve a break. Do what I told you in the instant message and what eveyone here is telling you to do and get to the ER however you have to get there. You can't afford not to with your IC being so severe now a days. I'm online for a while if you want to chat, just buzz me, okay?
Hugs...

Update
I did end up in the er my ex mother in law took me and boy boy was she rideing there butts from the time i got there until the time i left.
When the er doctor found out i was going to the gyn the next day he just gave me a demrol shot 75/50 to knock out my pain he knew i was in pain my blood pressure was up i was pale as a peace of cotten.
that helped knock the pain out long enough to let me sleep threw the night but I tell you one thing i didnt want to get up for my appt the next morning, but i did.
got there at the gyn office i was there for four hours gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr!
filling out papers letting them take blood and urine sitting in the gyn office for an hour before he even put me in a room for him to check me.
from the exam room to another exam room for another RN to do more test back to a waiting room back to his office for him to tell me he is a 100% sure i have endometriosis gave me a sample of birth control pills to start when my peroid starts again and when my ic gets a little more under control he wants to put me in to do the test and if there is any endometriosis there he will get it out while my uro goes into my bladder.
So now i'm face with endometriosis Oh Yes Just What I didn't Need:(
I'm still having some pain but it isn't nothing like it was mostly back pain and leg pain.
i go back to the gyn Dec 15 I guess to find out when surgery is.
I'm so sick of going to the O.R lately.
thanks for all your advice you all was right i needed to go to the er
sending you all hugs and prayers

Rhonda,
I am sorry that you are going through so much right now. I hate to hear that you have endrometreosis. At least knowing that you have it, you might be able to get medications that will help. You can't fight what you don't know.
I was always so good about getting my annual pap smears done but after my IC started kicking into high gear (and stayed there!) I hate to go back. My whole feeling now about it is - if you are in the middle of a big "flare" with major pain - I am going to go get one. Take it all at one time. That might sound stupid but you know how it is, you just go on and on and on and you have some relief sometimes but it sure isn't near enough and when you have those really painful days it feels most times like nothing helps.
I have alot of lower back pain and some kidney pain with my IC. I have to have an IVP done soon per my urologist to check all of this out. I have high residuals (urine left in the bladder after you urinate) and I think that my bladder fills up and presses on my spine. I am not sure why I am having the kidney pain. I don't think that it is a stone because I have had it for so long. Right now the back pain is worse than the other bladder, pelvic, etc. pain that I have.
If they did tests on your urine to see what antibiotics will work on your infection and they gave you the Zithromax it should start to work pretty quickly. It is great to have antibiotics that you don't have to take for 14 days anymore and wait for days for it to work. They probably gave you what they call a "Z pack."
I ran into the same thing at the ER several months ago. I was in such terrible pain and explained to the ER doc that I had IC. He left the room and came back - after he had done some reading/research on IC. I commend him for that. At least he didnt look at me like I was crazy or think that it was a usual infection. He did a urinalysis to check just to make sure but gave me a pain shot. They are so used to people coming into the ER that are "drug seeking" that they were surprised when I told them that I already had narcotic pain meds and they just weren't working that I just wanted a shot.
I hope that you are feeling better. Infections on top of everything else are nasty. Make sure you drink plenty of water or non-acidic fluids. It will help to flush everything out. And rest, rest, rest. I know that sounds easier than it is but you will heal so much faster.
Healing thought!
Susan

Wow Dixie, I'm so sorry....I've been feeling crappy, but just because I'm in a funk and ****** off about my life. I'd say in the future since you get so sick and it gets into your kidneys, get the IV zithromax. My docs do that. However, I keep a folder with my medical records, and info on IC ready to grab if we need to go, or (like this next week) to take with me if I have to somewhere far away from home.
You're a good lady, and I hope you feel better now. You've been such a blessing for many folks.

I'm right there with you on the ER point. You feel to sick to sit in the waiting room Until they call you back to do NOTHING!!! :bonk:
I went before I knew what this was in Mid October. They saw a cyst on my ovary and decided that was it. - No Urologist or Gyne ever saw me, just a resident intern! over a week later my own Gyne sent me to a Urogynecologist who discovered that my "undetected" bladder infection had gone into the deep tissue of my bladder wall, on top of IC, unstable urethra, and possible endometriosis, with a dropped bladder to boot!
I would LOVE to go back to the ER with that news, but what would it do to get more angry and upset.
Good luck to you, you are not alone.
