:woohoo: Just wanted to report that for the last three days I have felt better than I have since Christmas! My doctor increased my Amitriptyline dose to 100mg and it is defintitely working! The smaller doses showed signs of improvement but nothing longer than a few hours! I'm going to wait a few days to know for sure, but I am thinking of returning to work next week (my boss kept me on payroll and said I could come back whenever I was able).

Hope everyone is having a good and painfree day! :)

Heather,

That's good news you are feeling better. What a blessing to have such an understanding boss as well.

I hope you continue to feel better! :)

I'm so glad! I know of many IC'ers who have been able to almost forget they have IC and lead totally normal, comfortable lives, because of finding the right doses of meds! I am so glad you have finally found your miracle, I hope that each day you feel better and better and that IC becomes one of those "yeah I have it but it doesn't bother me anymore" things.

Blessings, Lori

More news
I saw my GP yesterday (yet again). He is keeping me at 50mg of Amitriptyline until my EEG (in January) unless something changes drastically between now and then. I asked his opinion on whether I should ask the uro-gyne for a laparoscopy when I see him again in January. The uro-gyne had said on my last visit that if at that time (January) I still want one, he will oblige. As of October, there was no waiting list. The GP said to go for it, since he suspects most of my pain is endo related and not IC. And he said that this will be the only way to know for sure. So that's what I'm going to do. Having asked that question, I asked if he (as head physician on campus) thought I should register for the January semester, and he said not if I thought I would be having the surgery because he didn't want me to end up in the same situation I'm in now: having to withdraw for medical reasons, and appealing to receive my tuition back (he's helping me). So with that cleared up, I had one last question. Since I probably wouldn't be registered for school, would I have to find another doctor in January (it's their policy to only see registered students or their children due to such a high volume/demand). He smiled and said of course not. Since I am planning on returning to finish my degree (I only need 5 courses) and since I have a complicated health situation, he's not going to leave me doctorless. lol. Plus, since he requested the EEG, I would have to return to see him anyway.
So all good news in that regard, I guess! And I have returned to work 5 days a week, at a reduced work-day. I'm working 25 hours so far, and the GP said I could increase it again if I felt able. Things are finally looking up again. :D
