ok i know i've been moaning about this all week, i've been having urinary hesitancy since the 25th (just checked my diary ), i'm putting it down to the high dose of amitriptylne (Elavil in America) i was on (75mg). i've cut down to 25mg since tuesday...how long do you think it should it should take for things to get back to normal...any guesses? do you think 5 days is a long time to have been on a lower dose without it getting any better? i'm gonna phone my doctors for an appointment tomorrow but as usual i doubt i'll get one for weeks.
:help:

i've been hugging my hot water bottle all day everyday since it started, drinking lots, bathing in bi-carb, trying to pee in all sorts of positions (oh you know what i mean...trying to find a way to sit that somehow works best!!). i still dont feel like i'm having any residual urine left, but i'm only peeing in "squirts" if you get what i mean. i'm never increasing my amitriptylne again, ever! i finally think i've gotten comfy for ten minutes when my mum will tell me to get up and feed the cats/switch the lights on/lay the table etc and i'll have to start all over again at trying to get comfortable, i'm going to shoot the next person who disturbs me!! :toilet: :headbang:

Why not go in your bedroom and turn a radio on, get comfy, and just snuggle up there for a little bit. Maybe if you close your door, you will be less likely to be disturbed?

I hope you get a restful afternoon soon!

I bet this has been frustrating for you.... I have no idea how long it takes for your bladder to calm down after reducing the Elavil. Maybe it takes awhile to get kick started again?

I hope your doctor has some answers for you! :kissing:

linz, I hope you get relief soon. Maybe if you explan to your DR. all the discomfort you are having they will be able to see you soon or least prescribe something over the phone. have you tried the AZO tabs that are just over the counter. They really see to help me when I am having discomfort in peeing until I am able to see the dr. Good luck and I would also agree with jess, go into my room and get the rest I need.

Linz,
Happy Halloween to you all in Merry ol' England. Been there, done that. Spent part of the week end. Take care of yourself and we are all here even out here California.

I think your doctor needs to know what is going on. Call in as an emergency. I would think 5 days would be enough for it to calm down. Are you taking anything else? Ditropan or Detrol?
