I just went to the physical therapist for the first time. The thereapist said that she was going to ask my doctor if I could get a T.E.N.S. unit to use at home. Does anyone have any experience with this? What does it feel like?Has anyone had any luck with this? Also, I was curious what T.E.N.S. stands for.

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulator. I have never used one for IC, but I did have one when I had a frozen shoulder and it was very effective in relieving pain. It feels like tiny shocks --- actually felt good to me. I've thought about getting one for my IC, but I keep forgetting to ask my doctor.

I used TENS for my IC for two years until my allergic reaction to the electrodes prevented me from using it. It greatly improved my sleep quality & decreased my frequency. It takes time to take care of the skin when using TENS, and it's very important to not skip skin care. It's non-invasive, cheap (compared to other options) & non-addictive, so I think it's worth trying.

Hi
I use a TENS on my back when back and bladder act up.. It sure does help me--- but if I try it just on the bladder then does not seem to do as much.
