Anyone take Elmiron and Ditropan XL?

I was diagnosed last week with IC, my only symptoms are frequency and microscopic hematuria. I am seeing a slight improvement with the Heparin/Lidocaine/Bicarbonate instillations and am supposed to start Elmiron and Atarax in a few days. I know Elmiron can take several months to start working, and I am supposed to continue the instillations as needed until the Elmiron works (I am praying it will). Is there any reason not to try Ditropan to control the frequency? Does anyone take a combination of the two?

Sorry...I take elmiron...and did try ditropan I think once with it but the ditropan did nothing so not on both. So hope someone out there can help you.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to try Ditropan ....it may help you.

Ask your uro if the combo would be alright to try...I take elmiron, atarax, and elavil-as needed.......sometimes it takes the right combination to start feeling better...I hope the elmiron kicks in soon and you start feeling better!

Oh and the ditropan didn't work for me either......

I take elmiron (just started it about 10 days ago), I have been on Ditropan XL 15 mg for 1 1.2 yrs.

I take both. I've been taking Ditropan for about a year and started Elmiron about 5 or 6 months ago. The Ditropan has been helpful for me. Detrol didn't work, but Ditropan does help with some of my pressure. So far I've not been able to tell a difference with Elmiron, but I'm still giving it some time. I am also on Visteral right now, too. I just started it a couple of months ago. My doctor has been conservative with trying different meds. He doesn't seem to think it's a problem at all to be on these things at the same time.
