This is the URL for a diet I just heard about for irritable bowel problems:

http://www.healingcrow.com/dietsmain/scd/scd.html

It is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet or SCD. Has anyone heard of it or tried it? Might be worth a try.

Any time I see a statement that something is "resisted by the medical establishment" it raises red flags for me. The vast majority of physicians are in that occupation because they want to help people.

hi martha..i tried to mostly incorporate this diet about 9 years ago when i was first told i had Colitis. It is a very restrictive diet to follow and hand in hand with the IC diet could be quite frustrating but since alot of carbs are triggers for IBS/Colitis there could be something to it..it certainly wouldn't hurt to try it for a few months and see how you feel? just be prepared...no breads or pasta which for some reason, we women seem to crave! i do find that when i eat mostly proteins (meat, chicken, fish) & veggies I do feel better.
good luck/

i think it makes sense and i personally know people with crohn's and/or colitis that it has helped. however, combining it with the IC diet may present a bit of a challenge.. but i say go for it, it couldn't hurt.
