Hi,
I'm in a right panic over this. I started taking oxybutynin 2.5mg 5 days ago, been taking between 1 and 2 pills a day (mostly just 1). In those 5 short days I've gained 3 or so pounds. I know this probably seems like I'm over reacting, but I used to have an eating disorder and am extremely weight concious. I'm going crazy. Have other people found they gained weight with these? I can't find weight gain or fluid retention listed on any of the side effects on web sites. Is it these pills? Or something else. I also already suffer with gerd, and since starting these the heartburn has gone crazy. I was taking 40mg of nexium a day and was fairly stable, now i'm taking 80mg and it doens't seem to be doing a thing for the heartburn. I don't know what to do and I'm getting myself in a mess over this. The worst thing is they did actually (first drug ever) seem to be helping my bladder :(. I now weigh the most I have in 2 and a half years, that's how stable my weight had been, 5 minutes on these and I can't get my clothes on. I'd been so positive lately, feeling maybe things could go right for me. But now, I just want to give up. Why can't a pill just work how its meant to to help one problem, why does it have to go and cause a different problem instead? I hate all this so much, I'm so tired of trying, so sick of this body. I'm so angry, and fraustrated. I have to wait till probably december or january to see a gyno over my down below pains which started up back in june, which my GP thinks could be deffered pain from my bladder (hence the ditropan) . I hate the health care in the UK. Firstly GP's are very reluctant to send you to see a specalist, and it's not just my doctor, I've seen many over the years. It all comes down to the fact it cost them to reffer you, and they have practice budgets to keep to etc. So you tend to suffer on for 3 months before they finally reffer you on, then its another 3 months just to see the consultant, who from my experience still does nothing! All budgets, all down to the fact they have to keep waiting lists down (thats a joke when its a 3 month wait to just see the constulatant for 5 mins, don't ya think?). They don't reffer people because they can't handle the work load, because it means longer waits for everyone. It just a joke. I just don't know I can be bothered anymore. Everything goes wrong! Everything!
Sorry, I know this is partly a rant, but it's sort of over the pills doing these weird things to me.
Sorry again.

I think you may want to get Ph strips or ask your doctor to check your Ph... I have found that with my own body my acidicness changed ...made my GERD worse and IC worse....and my appetite was greatly affected. Just a thought.

I am so sorry you are dealing the situation you are in.....that stress could also be affecting you and how acidic you are. Maybe meditation would help? Anyway...you did the right thing by venting here. I so hope you can find the relief you need.
