hi all.
i have a question about endometriosis on the bladder. i know it can mimic IC symptoms.
anyway, i've never been diagnosed with endo (knock on wood); my periods are fairly normal and have never given me cause for worry. but, is it possible i could have endo on the bladder anyway? would endo on the bladder give urethral symptoms? (i have lots of urethral burning..)
also, i'm assuming if it's endo on the bladder that symptoms would get worse during ovulation/menstruation. although i know this is the case for some ICers too, it's never been the case with me. i can't find any rhyme or reason in relation to my cycle.
any thoughts?
thanks,
heather

Ok I will try to answer your questions. It is possible to have endo without having heavy periods and no pain during periods. Could it still cause IC like symptoms ....probably. If you have endo on the bladder you could have it other places as well including the urethra area so endo could cause your burning....could it by endo on the bladder alone....I don't know but some people have found they have endo in the bladder (besides on) with that possibility I would say burning could definatly occur. I would agree that if your symptoms are from endo that you would get worse during periods and ovulation....but that differs for each person.
I think you should be checked for both. (IC and endo) Definatly see a doctor about your concerns. I hope you get the help you need.

It sounds to me like your symptoms are IC, not at all endo, but you're wishing it was the lesser (if you consider endo lesser). I had endo bad in my 20s and a lot of urethrael pain with it, but now I wonder if I didn't have IC even back then. I feel that my real IC symptoms didn't show up until about 34. I agree, be checked for both.
How is endo. on the bladder treated? Can it be cured? I know with other kinds of endo. some women actually get it to go away by having a baby.

I have endometriosis. I'm having a 6-month course of Lupron shots to shrink the lesions. So far it's been great...ask your ob/gyn about it. I recommend taking the Algonot Plus or Cysta-Q or something though during the treatment though, because otherwise the lack of estrogen (Lupron puts you into temporary menopause) could make your bladder more sensitive.
I have endo and IC and Vulvadynia. I have asked myself the same question as to whether my IC is in fact endo in the bladder. I find the pain worse during ovulation. I have been diagnosed with IC 3 years ago. I spoke to a uro/gyno about the endo in the bladder, and she said its rare, but not unlikely. SHe said if I could take the pill to supress my periods or have a shot of cant remember the name of it, to make it seem like I was in menopause to see if the pain disappeared. But I haven't tried that yet. Too scared.
