I am going to start tracking what I eat next week and see what foods irritate my bladder. Does anyone have any suggestions on how they did this. Was this hard to keep up with? I am supposed to start medication this week also Elmiron has that worked for many people? Just a few questions I have starting out. Thanks for all the support. :dizzy:

Hey Christy, on the patient handbook they have a very good list of foods. I am trying it too and I have a just a write on a pieces of paper what I ate, and the amount, what mood I was in when I ate it..and how it felt the next five times I went to the bathroom if it hurt or not.

You'll find the IC diet in the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook
I suggest you begin by eliminating all of the potential problem foods listed, then write down everything you eat and drink, your comfort level, and times. That way if you have a flare, you can go back to that food diary and possible find the trigger.
Diet plays a huge role in controlling my IC symptoms.
Good luck!

You've gotten some great advice -- I got a notebook, and wrote down what I ate and drank, what time that was, and how I felt afterwards. It really did help me identify quite a few trigger foods!! I encourage you to keep up with it. :)

Christy,
To answer the only question I have any experience with, Elmiron has been a huge help to me. It put a serious dent in my symptoms and helped me try to get back to my life. I have seen people posting that they have had some troubles with it also so I would suggest paying attention to how you feel when you start it. I hope it works for you!!!! Warm wishes for better feelings.
