October gave a party.
The leaves by hundreds came.
The Ashes. Oaks and Maples,
And Leaves by every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand;
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The chestnuts came in yellow,
the oaks in crimson dressed,
The lovely Misses Maples
In scarlet looked their best.

All balanced to their partners,
And gayly flutterfly by;
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.

Professor Wind played louder,
They flew along the ground;
and then the party ended,
With jolly all hands round.

What a beatuiful poem, thanks for sharing it with us!

I could add one more stanza.........

All our October trees,
Up here in Idaho;
Have froze off all their leaves,
And already seen 'first snow'!

Brrr,...it done turned cold up this way!
