I have two quarter sized pressure points (muscle spasms as hard as rocks) in my mid-lower back one on each side right by my kidneys. I was wondering if this is IC related. My own theory is that these are a result of being in constant pain. Currently, I am under chiropractic treatment for the pressure points. I opted for the chiropracter instead of having the pressure points injected (which is very painful).... Anyways, the chiropracter is doing ultrasound therapy, another thing that I have no clue what its called (kinda like the tens unit).... masage, and adjustments... I was just wondering though if the pressure points are a result of the IC.... :hmm:

Many of us keep our bodies tense from the pain. It could be that these muscles are just tight from you tensing up. Pelvic Floor is common problem for many with this tensing problem. Ask the doc if a muscle relaxant might help. Or even if it is muscle related. Hugs, Kathi :hi:

It can be related to IC -- I have myofascial pain syndrome, and I know I have a ton of pelvic and lower back trigger points that seem to be made worse by my IC and my pelvic floor dysfunction. This is because chronic pain can cause you to tighten up, and that can cause the trigger points to form and enlarge.
I have the points injected with lidocaine (unlike you) and this is followed by the "stretch and spray" technique where my doc sprays the area with a vapocoolant spay and stretches me out a little. Usually right after the injections, I go directly to see my physical therapist for stretching and ultrasonic deep tissue heating.
